Ohh yeah, I forgot about that. And I meant the props basically as a figure of speech. I really dislike SportsCenter and ESPN for that matter as of the past 2-3 years. What's sad is they are making unprofessional professional. It's funny for the first few times during a broadcast, but every story has to be a joke. The only people I can stand to watch consistently are the two or three other women (forget their names), Rece Davis, Mike Greenberg and those other two black guys who are RARELY on, but moreso lately. And I won't even touch on the ESPN ego. Almost sickening.
I wanted to start a new thread on this, but I'll post it here... Is it just me, or does Rachel Nichols seem like she's flirting with the camera whenever she does her NBA playoffs report? Growl!
I have almost given up on sportcenter for the same reasons. The attempt at humor often doesnt even have anything to do with sports. Back when Oberman(sp?) and Kilbourn were the hosts it was funny but the jokes were about the highlights themselves rather than BS set up stuff. The guys on ESPN news are acually more professional than the sportscenter crew. One of the head achors Michael Kim does a better job than most of the people on ESPN.
i hate Sportscenter because of their ungodly bias against Yao Ming and their super azz licking of Lebron and Shaq and preety much anyone that is not a Rocket
Holy ****, that's nuts! I was actually going to mention ESPNews and Kim specifically, but decided to keep it out. ESPNews is FAR superior to SportsCenter. I always wondered why GOOD anchors would 'dwell' on '3rd-rate' News rather than the big show, but I like it better that way; really saves themselves. Kim is VERy professional, upbeat, and delivers news well. He's a keeper.
Can't stand his ghetto journalism. It sucks to say this, but put Jim Gray out there instead. Or maybe sexy Lisa Guerrero (just to look at her).
i don't think its even that....i think its the fact that he is a big dork who looks like he is trying way too hard.
By the way... Zach Selwyn of "Dream Job" hosted "Around the Horn" yesterday and will do so for the rest of the week. He totally dulled down his schtick yesterday and came across as nonchalant and very un-Zach like. The corporate suits probably told him to do that. But he did get some zingers in there, specifically about Robert Downey Jr. and Amsterdam. Also, I recently found out that Nichols used to write for the Post. I really would like to find out the connection between ESPN and the Washington Post. Tony Kornheiser, Mike Wilbon, Norman Chad, Richard Justice and now Rachel Nichols have all gone from the Post to recurring roles on various vehicles on ESPN. There must be some connection between George Solomon and the execs at ESPN. And if I recall correctly, Stuart Scott did not always have this "act" as his personality. I'm pretty sure he was quite "whitebread" in his first year or two at ESPN. I think it, again, was the execs that told him to spice it up for the camera... so he invented his on-air persona.
