Former Astros pitching coach Brent Strom signing with Arizona Diamondbacks

Was just coming here to post this.

Wow.

I'm pretty stunned...obviously something else going on internally. Not good.

 

Interesting, would think he would want to go to a contender at this point of his career.

 

This is Daryl Morey all over again. I'm almost starting to believe the rumors about clashing with Dusty.

EDIT: Apparently his family lives nearby? That would make me feel better.

 

Strom pulled a Morey on us!

 

It sounded like bullshit in his exit interview. Confirmed.

 

I am okay with this move, Strom isnt going to coach forever and his two proteges in the Astros system weren't going to sit around and wait for a promotion forever.

 

I think he lives in AZ, right?

 

The only way he should have left Houston if he was retiring. Nice job Click.

 

Not shocked here. But if it was Strom vs Dusty, then we kept the wrong guy.

 

So guess this dispels the notion Strom wasn't paid well enough?

This makes me upset and lends credence to the idea Strom “retired” because there were underlying issues within the coaching staff.

 

He does live in Tucson, but still. Don’t come out and say you are “retiring” to take a job with the same title for another organization within 10 days.

 

I think the language was pretty vague and he never said the R word.

 

Then, how about you say that in your exit interview. Not, I am considering retiring because the grind is too much for my family.

 

Did he say he was retiring?

 

No one ever said he was retiring. AZ is a nice place to live. Winning probably isnt a priority at this point.
