Funny, you harp on KPJ's shooting, but Green has an even worse TS% and has taken even more shots with an even lower eFG% while being an absolute joke on defense.... so you'd agree then that he's even a larger cause for losses than KPJ right?
I think kpj is going to be one of their guys that will eventually put it all together and the team they happens to have him at that time is going to make out like bandits ie D'Angelo Russell
KPJ's biggest issue to overcome is his attitude - he seems to have entitlement issues - this is just an outside view, but he really seems to struggle with just playing hard and accepting results. If he can mature - he can be amazing, if not, he will be another Terrance Williams whose talent was wasted because his head got in the way. DD
I am encouraged by his improved effort on defense and his words are right. I give him slack for trying to adjust to a demanding and difficult role, being 1-9, and having a troubled background/personality. I say, give it time and see how it develops. He could be a Jimmy Butler type for all we know.
It's weird how often I feel like I am living in an alternate universe from others these days - whether it be politics or basketball. And it's weird because I have been reading your posts about Jalen Green, @DaDakota, and you and I are 100% in lock step there. But in regard to KPJ, I am not seeing entitlement issues. Hell, this is the kid who stated that "this organization saved my life". That's gratitude, not entitlement. I am not seeing an attitude problem. I am seeing him play hard. Guys who don't play hard are terrible defenders. But KPJ has been excellent on that end of the floor this season. In the ESPN article that came out today they shared this nugget, "However, the Rockets are encouraged by Porter's drastic defensive improvement, as Stone proudly noted that Porter now ranks 35th in one metric -- FiveThirtyEight's RAPTOR on/off rating -- that ranked him 469th out of 474 players last season." Please explain to me how a guy who isn't playing hard has made that kind of improvement in that metric?
Totally agree, KPJ is declining. Jalen Green is way better than KPJ Josh Christopher is a better player also, better communicator, positive person, everyone loves him. Runs plays better, drive and kick out to 3 Point shooter is better than KPJ
Bro why is this a competition? They are both really young players that obviously need a lot of work. Both are struggling but have shown flashes of brilliance. Nitpicking how bad they are from game to game doesn't even make for productive dialogue about their games.
You assume these ppl are interested in productive dialog and not just trying to prove that they're right.
It's very hard for me to disagree with you after your comments on Josh Christopher, but KPJ has been the far more valuable player between he and Jalen thus far. His numbers ad efficiency numbers are better across the board. His defense has been solid, whereas Jalen has been absolutely horrendous on both ends of the court. I can see how people believe Jalen could eventually be better than KPJ due to his quickness and athleticism, but he's the worst player on the court most every night as of right now.
I really want to Josh and Jalen Start together in the backcourt. Why not, team record cannot only get worse
You ask that in a thread called "We have to get rid of KPJ"? LOL, Green fanbois have been blaming KPJ for the object of their affection being the worst player on the team to receive serious minutes. That's the reason why I feel like I have to point out that Green has been even worse.....so if "we have to get rid of KPJ" for being bad, we should probably get rid of Green for being worse right? Now back in reality, we don't have to get rid of either. Both are young players who are struggling. We should give them time. Maybe Green should see a bit more bench due to just how terrible he's playing, but that's about it.
Funny that in a KPJ thread you still manage to try to take a dump on Green. No fanboy, I've been watching this team for almost 30 years now and have NO problem criticizing players, I just want to see these young players succeed. In the NBA its REALLY REALLY hard to predict how good a 19 year old will be. Professional scouts that do this for a living get it wrong a lot of times. It's possible that neither Green or KPJ will pan out BUT lets give them and the team some time to make mistakes and learn from them. It's a process.
Word on twitter is that KPJ refuses to practice on gamedays with john Lucas because it makes him nervous. Can anyone confirm this as true. It came out that Lucas isnt making him practice before games because it shis 3rd year but he hope KPJ come son his own. This is not good.
PORTER RODE THE second bus to shootaround on the morning of Houston's 123-111 loss to the Phoenix Suns, which followed the Rockets' first full day off in about a month. Lucas requires Green to participate in the early sessions on game days. They are optional for Porter, whose attendance has been sporadic. "It's his third year, and I've got to respect that," Lucas says. "I'm waiting for him to come willingly." […] Lucas compares his approach to Porter's development to "kid gloves," saying he gauges Porter's mood before determining how hard to push him that day. Lucas worries that Porter will tune him out if he demands too much. "The biggest thing is getting to learn and know him without smothering him," says Lucas, whose one firm rule for Porter is, "Don't ever let me catch you lying to me." Lucas and Porter occasionally butt heads. They exchanged high-decibel expletives at each other across the gym during one practice, although Lucas softened his reply by punctuating it with, "But I love you." "He just always is on me," Porter says. "I know that I'm in his spotlight. He really emphasizes improving myself. "He's definitely one of the most unique human beings on this planet. I'm grateful to know him. One word: unpredictable. ...You don't know what type of things he's going to say, do, nothing. "All you know is he's going to be a great, genuine dude when you walk in the building, and he's going to uplift a room." https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id...houston-rockets-classes-john-lucas-university https://bbs.clutchfans.net/threads/...-and-classes-at-john-lucas-university.313716/
Sure, I see him hanging his head at times when he is not getting the call, or to be not aggressive in his attack, or getting frustrated for not having the ball at the end of the Nuggz game. Maybe it is a lack of leadership overall on the team - and I have high hopes for KPj, I would take him over Green if I had to choose only because he is 6'6" now.....and IMHO a more NBA ready player. So, maybe it is attitude, or everyone trying to grab the reins as the leader - and so far all of them falling short? But clearly there is a lot of growth left for so many of the players. DD
I knew this crap was going to get overblown. He is not skipping practices. The way it is framed in that article is that they have mandatory practices for the rookies and sophomores. KPJ is not required to attend because he is not a rookie or sophomore technically. He still attends some. But I knew the crazies around here would freak out that he doesn't attend all of them.
