Some guys play different than their testing numbers. But a 24 inch standing vert and 6’7 wingspan at 6’9 isn’t ideal

Yea OP’s post confused me. Comparing Bates and Green as pure athletes is disrespectful to Green. Man has a 24in vertical and the same wingspan as Green but at 6’9 lol.

I’d take Victor Wembanyama over Bates in 2023.
    Here’s him vs Chet Holmgren

Jalen Green was Kobe/MJ on here when he was playing in the G-League

Yall dudes always hype these guys up. Remember, they are playing against lesser competition.

that's ok, jim butler has like 5'7" trex wingspan and he turned out a decent role player

Yes, I was going to say this.

Both have about the same wingspan, but Jalen is 6'5" while Bates is 6'9"

Emoni Bates is the most like Harrison Barnes. He is still a lottery pick, likely a top 5 pick but he isn't a generational player. He is a solid but not spectacular athlete. The best best for Bates is to become a high scorer or a better version of Tim Thomas, that is to say someone that scores based more on skill and height than raw athleticism.

Wembanyama is at the top of the 2023 class, especially after playing very well against Holmgren. However I would point out that someone recently outplayed Wembanyama. So I wouldn't necessarily assume head to head matchups mean everything.

Emoni Bates will easily be a top 5 pick, probably higher in 2023. He's still an elite prospect and has an extra year to develop at Memphis if he doesn't transfer.

No idea why Jalen Green's name is mentioned here. They're nothing alike in the way they play the game

All this because he scored 17 points against Tenessee Tech. Never even heard of this school before today. Dude is playing against a bunch of accountants, engineers, and PE teachers.

He may actually end up being a really good player, but not much here in this highlight package against Tenessee Tech screams "generational talent." Pump the brakes a little. He is only 17 though and shows a lot of promise.

Wait who was Emoni bater playing against to make such a ridiculous statement? They should make you take an IQ test before you are allowed to post threads on this forum.

EDIT: Lmao scouting reports on this kid are already questioning his athleticism, but his equals Jalen Greens. You can say anything you want about Jalen Green, there is zero question about his athleticism.

4 Emoni Bates SF – Memphis – HT: 6-9 – WT: 190 – WING: 6-7 1/4 – HSsr – Emoni reclassified to join the 2021 recruiting class but is not eligible until the 2023 NBA draft. Emoni was once considered the most elite prospect in high school and while he’s still a special player he’s no longer clearly the no.1 guy in his class. His less than ideal length and average athleticism knock him down a few spots.

Not close to the athlete Green is. Bates has a deadly jump shot though. Kid will be very good.

Wembanyama is the crown jewel of the 2023 draft class. It's not really close.

That new SI article that came out the other day makes it sound like Bates plans to seek a waiver to become eligible for the 2022 draft.

'The Coach Has No Power Anymore'
That’s according to Penny Hardaway, who—with his star recruits, Emoni Bates and Jalen Duren—doesn’t mind one bit.

Emoni is a nice prospect. This thread is a joke thread.

I wish there was a separate forum for the two extreme types of people who just want to talk trash about our #2 pick every chance they get in addition to those who want to hype him up with every chance they get.

It also has 0 reason to be in the GARM. There's a draft forum where guys like Emoni have been talked about a long time ago. But a ton of folks on this board have never even been over there

If Jeremy Lin performed the way he did in the gleague at 18 years of age, he would be in a NBA roster right now and be considered a core peice of that team's future.
