Pops kept it respectable without even the highest lotto balls. Developed Keldon Johnson, Dejountay Murray, Vassell, Lonny Walker and so on. Those were mediocre picks.
Silas going fall on the sword for the next coach after we get another lottery pick. He’ll be our Hinkie. Respect this man for the sacrifice he’s making
Hinkie was working a plan and cut before he was finished. Silas has no plan and is hurting the development of others because of incompetence. Not the same at all. Yes Silas will fall but it’s because he can’t walk and chew gum. A hero he is not.
I gave him a lot of hate to start the season but somehow these rockets really progress and for me they are playing way better than this roster is capable to looking from the outside. Not winning close games against contenders is not exactly something to be ashamed of with 3 ternagers, CW and couple of dinosaurs in the rotation
agreed. We'll be a bottom 5 team even if we try to win every game. so we might as well lean in to the fact that we'll lose a lot of games and might as well focus on development.
Vasseli was the 11th pick (1st Rd / 1 yr exp) Lonnie Walker the 18th pick (1st Rd / 3 yrs exp) Keldon Johnson the 29th pick (1st Rd / 4 yrs exp) Dejounte Murray was the 29th pick (1st Rd / 4 yrs exp) _________________________ Sengun the 16th pick.(1st Rd / rookie) Tate (undrafted / 1 yr exp) Kenyon was the 52nd pick (2nd Rd / 1 yr exp) Jalen Green was the 2nd pick (1st Rd / rookie) They have two more wins than the Rockets.....calm down Spurs have more experience which coincides with further development. Compare current Spurs with Rockets of about two years from now.
I talked about the previous years when they got close to the 10th spot or the Play In. AFAIK TP and Ginobody were both low draft picks. Calm down? You are seriously thinking I got upset because of the rebuilding process? I was mainly pointing at how you can be tanking and winning a couple more games here and there. There is nothing wrong with keeping the loss streak to 2-4. Reasonably.
So you are saying we need vets like LaMarcus Aldridge, DeRozan, Rudy Gay mixed in. Sure..... Outstanding Edited: so you are in the camp of going all out to get into the "Play In" tournament? I was too when Wall was going to play. Now I'm ok with losing close games as these kids learn.
They weren't even playing that much, most of them were injured a lot. And Gay was a shell of his former self, averaging 11-12 ppg and 20 minutes per game. I admit Derozan was actually trying but it's not like Derozan was on Harden's level, he is 1 or 2 tiers below. LMA is also injury prone and almost didn't come back to Brooklyn. These factors are close to irrelevant sans the efforts of DeMar DR which either Green or KPJ was expected to consistently replicate early on, they did not. If management wants to treat Theis like the second coming of LMA, okay, got to roll with that I guess. At least do more during the offseason.
LMA (20/21): 13.7 pts but in 19/20 was 33.1 mins getting 18.9 pts per game. LMA was bought out and the heart issue came up after as he was setting up with Nets in 20/21. DeRozan (20/21): 33.7 mins.....21.6 pts Patty Mills (20/21) 24.8 mins......10 pts per game. ______________________ Let's not act like Pops had nothing but raw inexperienced players. They were around long enough to pass the baton to the kids. Our equivalent is Wood, Eric Gordon, Theis.......add up their experience vs DeRozan, Mills, LMA.
Silas' 3 point shooting this season is just unacceptable, but at least he's not turning the ball over.
I can only stress that Houston media is very calm and the mouth piece of the franchise. There is virtually no pressure on the team to do anything. You can get away with a lot, I mean a lot. Criticism would not transpire and it is just a bubble of 'Oh, we got to work on that, we'll get there eventually.' Vastly different in LA and New York. I only referred to Pops and the Spurs because Pops has more power than a superstar down there.
I don't disagree with that. New York has been bad for a long time. Supposedly a mecca for attracting free agents....as is L.A.
I have no problem with tanking or losing in rows, it just looks like the team has no real grit at times. It does not look that good from the outside. I guess some has to do with the 3 point chucking but yes. The team just had more missteps than San Antonio like the McFail hiring, the pampering of Harden, re-shuffling the team almost every offseason, how they treated JVG and Adelman at the end. Not to talk about Les and the whole Fertitta affair. It just looks like a headless chicken. And that hurts.....
@daywalker02 But L.A. had to import LeBron followed by AD Knicks had to import Derek Rose, Nerlens Noel, Julius Randle to get past the "Always on the Bubble or Below" status
