I don’t think he’s getting a 10 year offer prior to the CBA situation being settled, but 7-8 isn’t out of the question. 7 years at 220 might have made him think, but I can’t see any way he’s accepting this before other teams can make offers.

Hearing the offer is now at 6 years and 35 per but can not verify.

This feels like a leak by the Astros to cover their butt...they are going to come out and say after he's gone, well we tried...its not that the dollars aren't right it's the length...if these dude really want him they'd go at least 8 years, then and only then will I feel that they actually made an effort...

FWIW. Guess it depends on if you trust Berman or Randy more. I personally trust Bernan more but this is interesting nonetheless.

Apparently, Correa and Maldy are a package deal. Take it or leave it!

Each of the 29 other teams would instantly offer Carlos Correa more than $160M guaranteed. The Astros can claim they made him a respectable offer due to the average annual value being over $30M, but the truth is they offered him the absolute least of all 30 teams. It’s not insulting, it’s business. But I think it’s stupid of the Astros to make such a transparently weak offer.

6 at 210 is a much more interesting offer particularly if the last few years would be a player option.

No, he's leaving less because you're assuming he's out of the majors by the end of the deal. Depending on state tax it could be 90 cents on the dollar...

I think in the end, he's getting at least 7 years, and $240M total at bare minimum. If I'm Correa I don't take anything less than 7 years total.

I say 8 years 250 with player option after year 4. Front load with 160 in the first 4 and when year 5 comes around he will opt out of 4 years 90 to get another long deal at age 31...

Then you got him for 4 years at a slight overpay to keep the window open...

He gets hurt and keeps the back end his pay is cut in half...

Are we assuming he never plays again in 5 years?

See the tweet by Channel 2 Sports Director Randy McIlvoy. He’s a legit source.

Either way, 6 for 210 is a good offer: $35M AAV and more than 200M, total. Correa turns 33 in September of the final year of the offer and could get another two or three year deal for his age 33-35 seasons.

I think it’s certainly worth considering if I’m Correa. It might take one more year at that AAV (7 for 245 or 250), but Carlos knows they aren’t ****ing around now, at least.

With no state income tax on 93 to 95 games (81 at home, 9 or 10 in Arlington and 3 or 4 in Tampa), it makes it worth $36 or $37M from another team. In some years, there can be a couple more tax free games when they play in Miami.

50m for another year is a dramatically better deal than 5/160. Don’t know that it does the job but it’s not a zero chance.

7 years might just get it done.

Especially when the AAV is the equivalent of $36-$37M for any non Texas or Florida team.
