Best lineup in a long, long, long time. http://www.lollapalooza.com/ Pixies Sonic Youth Modest Mouse String Cheese Incident Morrissey The Flaming Lips Wilco among many others. Might have to make a road trip to Dallas. Who's with me?
at www.frankblack.net there is no listing showing the pixies playing the dallas date of Lollapalooza and the front page of lollapalooza.com has a star indicating the Pixies in New York only. You can catch the Pixies at the Austin City Limits music festival in September (18th) in Zilker park and in Houston on October 17th. I'd like to see Morrissey again though.
I went last summer and had a freaking AMAZING time. Even though, I only knew a couple of the Jane's Addiction's songs, they still put on an amazing show! I'm an Incubus w****, and the Audioslave performance was almost magical (I'll never forget the entire crowd chanting along to their Seven Nation Army cover)! I went to the Lollapalooza webpage the other day and was thinking the lineup was looking pretty weak this summer... but that is probably because I'm not especially familiar with those bands... I take it I should check them out?
I went to the first lollapolooza and a buddy of mine dissolved acid in my beer. Anyone that knows me knows I am not big on drugs. Not a funny joke.
Morrissey might not be coming after this little incident. http://www.manchesteronline.co.uk/news/s/119/119107_bush_should_have_died_not_reagan_morrissey.html
don't tell that to the Mexicans, they loooooooooooove Mozz... This Charming Hombre November Spawned a Mexican Their Charming Man
That's strange at the Ventura site it says they will be playing on the same day as Sonic Youth. This is the Strongest line up of Lollapalooza since year 1 I believe.
I don't know about any Ventura site... but the official site has the NY Only info... http://www.lollapalooza.com
I see where your confusion is coming from. On the front page of the site it lists the Pixies as NY only. But on the same official site under tickets for the Ventura show which I was calling the Ventura site, it lists the Pixies as playing the same day as Sonic Youth. http://www.lollapalooza.com/tickets_va.php
This is generally regarded as the best lineup in a decade, so, yeah, I'm thinking you should check them out. This may be my one chance to see the Flaming Lips before they die...
I will be seeing only day 1 in Ventura. I had seen the Pixies three times way back when, and I'm loving the chance to see them again. Add to that Sonic Youth, Modest Mouse, and Morrissey and it should be a pretty cool show. The Pixies is who I'm dying to see the most, so I feel really fortunate to have tickets for that. I would also like to see some of the day 2 bands, but the two day ticket was a little pricey for me right now.
---------- LOLLAPALOOZA, 2004 CANCELS ALL DATES Los Angeles, CA - June 22, 2004 -- Even with what has been touted as the best line-up since its inception in 1991, with such eclectic and respected artists as Morrissey, Sonic Youth, PJ Harvey, and The Flaming Lips, among others, and the most competitive ticket prices in the marketplace for a tour this size, it was not enough to counter the weak economic state of this years summer touring season. Therefore, it is with the utmost regret that due to poor ticket sales across the board, the Lollapalooza, 2004 tour has been cancelled. This morning, tour organizers and concert promoters faced with several million dollars of losses, made the very tough decision to pull the tour. Marc Geiger, co-founder of the tour stated, "I am in utter disbelief that a concert of this stature, with the most exciting line-up I've seen in years did not galvanize ticket sales. I'm surprised that given the great bands and the reduced ticket prices that we didn't have enough sales to sustain the tour. Concert promoters across the country are facing similar problems. Many summer tours are experiencing weak ticket sales." Alex Hodges, Executive Vice President of HOB Concerts, commented, "In real terms, it's been a tough summer. Ticket sales have been mixed and often inexplicably soft. There are a number of contributing factors, and, as a result, many tours have been cut-back, rerouted or cancelled." Fans who have supported the tour and who have bought tickets nationwide will be given full refunds. www.lollapalooza.com
