KPJ is averaging a respectable 12-5-4 in my opinion. I am concerned about the turnovers but I expect those to come down. In much the same way Green gets bashed by those who had MJ expectations from the jump, KPJ as a point guard us a work in progress that will require patience. He needs to have more halves like the first half on Tuesday. I think that consistency can still come. End of the day I still see him as a potential 20-6-6 guy (none of those are turnovers btw...). If his j could stay north of 33% he'd almost be there now. I don't think the Rockets need him to be a pure pg anyway, just a weapon that requires other teams to gameplan for.
Personally I see Jamal Crawford written all over him. The question is how long will it take before he settles into a tenable role on this team. It may take a while because he clearly hasn't fully fleshed out who he is as a player yet. Fortunately for him this is a full development season for the Rockets which gives him more latitude and leeway than he might otherwise get. But eventually some frank and honest conversations are going to have take place.
He is only 8 years younger than me but he’s basically become a adopted son to me that I just want to see succeed and become a top 2 backcourt with Green
Really , none of us should be calling each other idiots & morons over silly disagreements over basketball .... We should have a little more respect for each other & show more class individually.
That's not what less cerebral means. How the F you know that they are less cerebral is amazing given you really don't have a lot of insight into their lives outside what you see on the basketball court. A lot of assuming and bias packed into that word that betrays something about you, not them
Because I watch the games, and I can tell what I'm seeing when I watch the games......and I'm only talking about what they do on a basketball court.
Really hope we're not going to waste the development of real franchise players trying to make KPJ a thing. If Banchero/Chet are here I want this guy catapulted to the ****ing moon. Fine with riding out the season but this guy isn't it at PG.
The dilemma is Jalen and him are both two guards. KPJ is a scorer, once he's moved to the right position and realizes how overbearing his offensive strengths are he will become very good if he attacks the defense at will. The game seems easy for him when he's just focusing on scoring. Considering he isn't lanky like Jalen but has some size and length I'd move him to small forward next year and pick up a pure point guard next year.
I thought he played a really solid game today, tbh. Seeing some development for sure. I am way more concerned with our inability to recognize that Christian Wood is not a Forward. KPJ and JG have next to zero space out there.
Highly recommended read. John Lucas is not just a Rockets treasure, he is a national treasure. https://www.nba.com/news/the-man-tasked-with-getting-kevin-porter-jr-on-the-right-track Lucas is not the only reason but he us an important reason why a trade for Simmons would be ideal for the Rockets.
Has to be said, Porter looks a lot better the more he attacks. He gets better passes and scores more. He's never going to be a Chris Paul type pass first PG, but he definitely has potential if his game is built around his scoring.
Absolutely. Been saying this for a while. He needs to get his so others can get theirs. He needs to be moved back to the 2 guard with the ball handling duties. Move green to the 3 and someone at pg that can defend and hit the 3. He's faster and stronger than alot of 2's. He's not faster than a lot of 6'3 and shorter pg's. He also needs to start plays right past the logo. He initiates at the 3 pt line and everything gets all clogged up.
Don't throw out the baby with the bathwater. If it doesn't work at the point (as yet to be determined), KPjr is still a helluva scorer off the wing.
Who are these mythical pure point guards you guys talk about? There is Chris Paul, but he's got a lengthy extension that will probably take him to retirement. After that, who? Because really all I see anymore are combo guards. I think the pure point guard is virtually extinct.
He is not a PG, but Houston is making out of a PG. The guy has quick feet, agility, length and quickness. Honestly, there were nobody could stop him against the Lakers or the Suns. He is a special talent and now he has CONFIDENCE in his game. If he keep playing aggressive he has a chance to be a ALL STAR...but he has a long way to go. He leads the league in turnover...the league. However, he is a special talent and Houston glad they have him,,,,he helps with the rebuild we just need a BIG(Mo Bamba)
