We need coaching that: -Understands rotations -Teaches fundamentals of the game -Hold people accountable with out destroying them -Experienced / successful -Winning expectations Look at the WNBA. We could get a jewel of a HEAD coach. The move would be good for the coach, too. The pace is different but a fundamentally sounds team has a place and would be successful in the league. (Spurs are the closest thing). When the talent starts to shine through the structure is when championship happens.
I have only read the last page of this file! I want o tell you that I have never heard so much TRUTH in all of my long Rockets days. I hope everybody reads all of this file a sit is about time that the truth be told! I say to all the posters in this file I congratulate you on your statements ! Yetti
You guys blow my minds. You all clearly know way more about basketball, coaching and player development than Greg Popovich. That idiot seems to think Silas is doing a great job. See below.
of course he wants his greatest rival The Rockets to suffer and go away..this is why Cuban planted Silas here in the first place... you really think if Silas were that great, that Cuban would have given him to us on a silver platter? yeah right! i am sure hes still on his payroll now go ponder on these heavy lines over a big cup of tea....
imagine if he were on rockets... he couldnt be getting any playing time because of danuel thesis and danual house
Coaches and homer announcers always defend coaches. Show me a clip of Pop ever criticizing another coach and I’ll believe it. Hollins is driving me crazy with his “that’s Stephen Silas basketball” garbage every time the Rockets run. Wow, what a revelation! The Rockets need to run. NO sh*t Sherlock. It’s almost impossible to be a running team when the other team is dunking and getting wide open 3’s. That is Silas ball, taking it out of the net.
I don't think Silas is a horrible coach. I think he's a very good ASSISTANT COACH, just not a HC. It could very well be, he's style does not suit a younger team. Remember, he was brought in to coach Harden and Westbrook and I think his style of ball would have suited that team perfectly, which is to get the rebound and push it. That style does not fit this team! First of all, Stone messed up by not bring9back Kelly Olynyk. I thought him and Wood bonded well. Next, Wood is NOT a center, he's a SF/PF. The Rockets need a Center. I still think Sengun is too small in the paint. I think he will better served as a role player than as a main piece.
Stephen Silas was lead assistant for his dad on the last place all time 2012 Bobcats. I’m not convinced he was anything more than a guy carrying around a madden playbook for Carlisle. There are many posters on this board who could out-coach Silas, he has that weak of a personality. Pathetic defense, stupid offense.
Although I'm not a fan of this thread, I'll play along this once. Specifically last night, KPJ goes down and the hot hand in the first half was Josh Christopher. Instead of starting the second half with Josh, to ride the hot hand and keep everyone organized, he started with Matthews and Green being the primary ball handler. I have noticed he never rides the hot hand unless it's Garrison, KPJ or Gordon. He probably trusts them most. I understand trust goes a long way but we need to instill confidence and a sense of family with these young players.
I disagree. I think they sing the praises of other coaches when they feel that way, and keep their mouths shut when they don't And I'd also add that Popovich is literally known for speaking his truth even when people don't want to hear it. The idea that you think Popovich, of all people, is schmoozing Stephen friggin' Silas is hilarious to me.
