Key players tonight for the Astros:

Altuve because how Altuve goes the Astros goes.
Alvarez because he's been mostly a no show to this point.

Ultimately whether the Astros bats show up tonight is what will decide things.

I understand, and that's true, however I was specifically responding to the comment that Fried shut us down in this series. If that's shutting down I'm sure the Stros will take a repeat of Fried's performance from last game tonight.

 

The ump is most important - Astros do horrible when the strike zone isn’t what they expect… if they can stay ahead in count ..we score 5-9 runs ….

 

When was his last real start? My guess is he’s the best insurance option they have if one of the starters over the next 2 days doesn’t have it…. And not sure they have a good insurance option if he starts and doesn’t have it.

But I fully expect him to pitch and be a determining factor in one of these hopefully next two games. I would just trust Stromm/Click to also know what they have in Garcia.

Garcia’s game 3 start was very good all things considered.

Hopefully Astros score early on against Fried. I think after the 1st couple of innings, he settled down in game 2. Also even the hits weren't hard hit balls( I think) so if they can rattle him and make him lose confidence early that'll be great. Also please don't let them score in the 1st, don't want to be behind before the Astros hitters comes up to bat. Yeah they came back last game but still don't want to play catch up early on.

I didn't say Fried shut us down, I'm the saying the offense was previously shut down during this series. Point is, Fried is a good pitcher and this is an offense that is susceptible to going cold.
