Can we get some bees buzzing at MMP. The chants at the Brave park make me nostalgic for that buzzzzzzing.
LOLOLOLOLOLOL. 10 ERs in 4.2 innings. Please tell me Dusty isn't that stupid, especially on short rest
You're only down 3-1 once in a series. Now down 3-2. Winning 3 in a row is hard, but it's not like each game you're playing down 3-1. Idk, I'm still pretty nervous and scared.
If Framber comes into a close game in the later innings of game 7 I'm busting out the hard liquor to calm my nerves.
Not going to overthink pitching usage etc etc. It's just two games (hopefully) and it's baseball. Anything could happen. We could smack Fried and Anderson around and they could go cold. Not too much surprises me in baseball.
imagine being an Astros player when the braves hit that grand slam. Got the braves dugout going crazy, the crowd equally as crazy, fireworks, etc. They were about to party all night essentially. The way these Astros nutted up was impressive AF. You cant show that kind of fortitude and lose the series IMO. That was champion level swag
Dodger stadium was dead in game 7 after we took a 4 run lead, their team followed suit. This team built different.
What we saw when we got down 4-0 early should give us all plenty of confidence from here on in. There was heart involved, but it was more so a championship team showing patience and focus at the plate. The Astros beared down and shifted into a totally different gear. The pen came in and held the line, and we weren't going to be denied at the plate. Our talent shown through. This was a massive momentum shift akin to Jose's HR in the eighth against Boston. Look for us to continue the roll.
The only way Ian Anderson replicates his previous start is if Manfred forces the Astros to keep the roof open as the cool front rolls through Houston with rain.
The Astros are likely telling both of them to prepare to only go 3-4 innings each. So I will be curious to see how the short rest impacts them. The Braves beat the Dodgers in large part due to the Dodgers getting cute and using guys out of the pen and on short rest..... the hope is that Garcia can nut it up and still hit 95-96 for 40 pitches before giving way to the bullpen....... Javier is someone that is feast or famine.... he has been very good in the post season at times, but the last two years has given up killer home runs.... ideally he comes in with a short rope and a lead of more than a run. I am less worried about Urquidy, he doesn't go deep in games anyway, and the Astros can always roll the dice on Valdez in game 7 out of the pen early if they want to.... it is time for the good Valdez to emerge again and he is a horse so rest is less of an issue. Really need the bats to come through though.
That's where pitching matters the most. The Astros knew there was no member of the Braves pitching staff yesterday that could really shut them down for multiple innings. They knew the same on Saturday as well, yet couldn't get much across when they had their window. While the pitching matchups are "better" for the Braves, the odds that Fried and Anderson shut down this offense has always been slim to none. Doesn't mean it can't happen (again in terms of Anderson)... but this is not like coming home and having to face Strasburg/Scherzer in games 6 and 7. If the Astros can score consistently, they should have enough pitching to outlast the Braves over 2 more games. While the Braves have a slim advantage in the rest of their starters, the Astros hitters have seen a lot of their bullpen over the last 5 games... and is starting to show some recognition and improved game plans against each of them (They had a solid gameplan against Minter last night... hopefully something similar against Jackson/Matzek already formulated).
The Series is in Atlanta’s hands. They had a 4-0 lead and a 5-4 lead to be coronated at home and they blew them both. Now they have to go back to MMP and try to win on the road. That’s a tough blow for a franchise that’s had some bad ju-ju in its recent history. If ATL shows strength and character to get over the Game 5 hangover, and play as their regular selves, I’d say they are the favorites, obviously, needing only one win and having their starters on full rest. Astros’ chances are if ATL is still shaken…
