"I have no idea what I'm talking about is the only comeback you Verlander bootlickers have. I had the utmost respect for Verlander before this season but his complete disappearance shows he's using us and has no intention of staying afterwards. I don't give a **** if he resigns or not but when you're getting paid tens of millions of dollars and you havnt a thrown a pitch the LEAST you can do is support and mentor our young pitchers in such trivial times. Go ahead keep licking his boot. I can't imagine how braindead you Verlander fanboys are. If KD or LeBron wouldn't be on their teams bench during finals it would be biggest story but in baseball fans are weak.

Nobody here has given a legitimate reason why a guy making 40 million dollars can't be in the dugout for a few weeks mentoring our players. The "zomg he's busy with rehab" is the most pathetic excuse in the world. Get real

Insurance paying off these large contracts has changed a lot.

I know each insurance policy is different, does anyone know if this past season was paid by the insurance? I seemed to remember people were still hopeful he’d come back for at least the World Series up until September…

I suppose on a short term deal, a team might forego the high cost of insurance; but that’s just my opinion.
