I think some desperate team could do it but it's not gonna be 3 #1's and players.

I've been saying it, others have been saying it: there is no reason to trade Watson until the offseason

There's no reason to ever trade him. We didn't even get anything for Hokpins. We're not getting anything for Watson. Just keep him until people forget he's a pervert. Miserable franchise deserves a miserable person. Go ahead and hire the Clemson coach. Whatever.

In Feb of this year, it was "there's no reason to trade him before the draft if we don't get what we want".
After the draft, it was "there's no reason to trade him before August if we don't get what we want"
In August, it was "there's no reason to trade him before the deadline if we don't get what we want".
Now, its "there's no reason to trade him before the offseason if we don't get what we want".

All of these may be true - but the probem is that they may simply never get what they want. So in the offseason, we will repeat the process. Watson seems in no hurry to settle his lawsuits - he wants the settlement public (thinking it will salvage his reputation) and the women don't want it public (for lots of legitimate reasons). He seems fine getting paid to not play football in the meantime. At some point, the Texans will have to make a decision on how much they are going to keep paying Watson and delaying their rebuild to maximize potential value. It will be interesting to see when that will be and what they will get. Don't have any idea what the right answer is, though I expect they'll give up some value to be done with it and start their rebuilding process and get picks for this upcoming draft. Pre-draft offseason has the benefit of knowing exactly what picks you'll get, so the trade deadline seemed like a weird time to push a trade (along with the fact that the teams interested are already out of contention this year, so there's no real need for them to get him now as opposed to getting him in March).

Cal pushing for Caserio to make the trade. Of course. Lol

sounds like he’s leaving the final decision up to Caserio…. For now. But that could change literally at any moment, especially with Easterby standing at Cal’s desk with bible in hand.

Stand your ground Nick. Don’t let Tommy Boy or the Easterbunny tell you how to do your job.

    Jay Glazer:

Earlier this week, Carolina actually jumped in. They called Houston to try to talk to Deshaun Watson. Houston said “No, you can’t talk to him.”

So it’s back between whether he goes to Miami or not. And from what I was told, they were so close to a deal earlier this past week but so many other things evolved here, whether or not he settles his legal issues, which I think Miami wants him to do. They’re still negotiating here. They have two more days to see if they can get all this done.

Miami & Houston touched base on a potential trade. Both sides are open to a deal. It is Miami or bust for Watson. He has only waived his NTC for Miami. … Caserio has full support of Calhoun McNair to do what is best for the team (either trading him now or after the season). … Watson is eligible to play.

Wants to go play for a black GM & black coach? Is that what it is?
Surely not about winning or going to a good organization.

He thinks that settling and being allowed to defend himself will change perception. The only thing that is going to help his future marketing is a settlement and TIME. Confidential Settlement stops the women from talking, hence, no more details. Nobody talks about Big Ben's rape cases anymore. Deshaun, you chance to be MJ on and off the field is gone for now. You need to focus winning on the field. Winning will improve your image more than anything.

It’s gone period. Ben, Kobe and a laundry list of others wouldn’t have been what they turned out to be in today’s society.

I'm trying to think of a more disappointing Houston athlete who came in with all the bona fides - smart, winner, leader, etc - and then did a 180 and turned into a total ****ing trainwreck.

Pippen is the only one I can think of, but he was never a criminal as far as I know.

And even he is just a selfish turd. Watson is way worse when you factor in the whole sexual assault deal.
