Pro tip: Make pitcher(s) of Bloody Marys (or Marias), drink 1, leaving an inch or 2 in glass, add beer. Repeat as necessary.
For me one of the things about liking a michelada was choosing a beer. I prefer negra modelo. Before that i didn't care much for a michelada. Vida Mariscos has a good mix as does Captain Benny's.
Aca Paco's in Kyle makes the best Micheladas. I had never really been a fan until I experienced the exceptionalism of their sauce and presentation with Shrimp. It has become a staple of every baseball game when my son plays on the near by field.
Pastry War downtown makes the best michelada. For convenience at the house I get a mix at the store made by finest call. Its probably the zestiest one.
A friend of mine was the bartender there. He had given me the recipe for their michelada recipe and it was awesome. Can't find it anymore though
It's a tomato based mix (Clamato is used a lot) that is added to beer. It's like a beer version of a bloody Mary It's a Hispanic thing. I was married to a Hispanic woman who introduced me to it
I used a out a half of that pickle beer for bloody Marys. It's too much for a michelada imo. It's also disgusting by itself. Don't understand how people power through 4 or 5 of them.
I make mine with three or four ice cubes in a glass, and then I fill the glass almost to the top with scotch. In my younger days, I’d drink all these fancy single malts, but in my older years, I find Dewer’s is just fine. This recipe works well for margaritas and Moscow mules too. In fact, I use this recipe for any cocktail I have a hankering for.
