i didnt remember that hakeem got double and tripled teamed in that series. i thought i saw some zone defense against dream in there too.

i do remember shaq always claiming that he never needed any help on defense. selective memory, i guess.

Wow, watching this game reminds me of how good that team was. There was no showboating after a basket, like our current roster, just pure hussle and determination on every single possesion.

You know I noticed that Kenny Smith would often make a post-entry pass to Hakeem from way outside the 3pt line, . I don't know why they haven't tried that with our current team. It seems like we only pass from right outside the 3pt line in the corner.

And I know that people are going to say how our guards can't pass, but watching this game, how about Hakeem in the post - what a target! Anybody could get him the ball, it seemed, he always had his man at his back. Our current team could learn a thing or two from watching the old team about posting up, passing and creativity in the post. So could our coaches.

Man it felt good to watch that game right now. I was bored at the bar over here cuase it's slow and that kept me busy.

My bartenders thought i was crazy cuase i knew what was going to happen and when.

Now i will have a good day...at least until i read the next trade thread.

Ditto, it is also amizing how deep Hakeem had position on Shaq every time. But like you mentioned, I kept looking at the post entry pass and there was just better spacing and good position by Dream.

Better spacing partially because teams played true man and didn't cheat to the passing lanes as much because of illegal defense.

Really, I can't believe why the F-- the made zones legal --- this was supposed to boost offense? It was an asinine idea back then, and the results have been predictably lousy. Stupid idiots.

nope. shaq and yao are the only two centers
double or triple-teamed. Zone also makes Steve less effective.
