He could be upset that his legacy is tainted just as bad as other 2017 Astros players even though he came in at the end of that season. I think he played in one regular season home stand after being traded where he could have seen the trashcan system. Remember, the players thought they got caught and didn't use it in their final regular season games. They said they tried it again in the playoffs but by then everyone was suspicious of everyone else and there were multiple signs even without a runner on 2nd. Couple that with MMP crowd noise and there's not any recorded bangs in the playoffs that I'm aware of.
Probably didn’t wanna be managed by a minority. He supposed to throw out a pitch in the lds and the team got together and said,” NO”
Something must be up. Robinson Chirinos is posting more and attending more games than Verlander. Not that jv has to post but he is usually pretty active on social media. To be on the team and not even a congratulations post is odd. Add in all the smoke about the lds first pitch as well.
If he does get a ring, first, wooo hooo to us, but in the end he can't auction it due to the legal agreement. So don't look for it on the open market. He will need to dark web it. After winning the 2017 World Series, the Astros gave out 1,332 rings to players, coaches, clubhouse and training staff, baseball and business front office members, medical staff, seasonal associates, Hall of Famers, owners and broadcasters. There were four different tiers of ring with the players and staff getting the highest-end tier. All the rings look similar, they were just made of different materials. The top-tier rings were 10.55 carats with 214 diamonds, 16 natural blue sapphires and nine natural orange sapphires.
Screw Verlander. Always felt like him and his wife were way too close to Cole and his wife. No doubt those two were talking and influencing each other.
There is a thread about Verlander on the baseball reddit page. Someone threw out the conspiracy theory he delayed his surgery to ride out the contract. Likely so he could distance himself from the team.
Him riding it out will probably cost him tons of money. If he could have shown that he was healthy, he would have people lining up at the door for his services.
The original plan was to see if he could do what LMJ ended up doing in 2018 (pitched in the post season with the torn ligament). They gave it a shot, but he was ultimately deemed ineffective pitching hurt. That timetable does delay things… initial rest, then get back to a training program, then a throwing program, then you have to see how the area responds… and if it doesn’t work out, you’ve delayed the surgery by 3 months. Glasnow/Rays also had a similar plan in mind this year… but he ultimately decided to get the surgery ASAP.
The players will vote no. His post on the Astros is mainly about himself than the Stros. I could see JV get a lesser offer to join Dodgers, or Yankees.
I'm hesitant to believe this stuff too but the more I think about the smoke there could be some actual fire there.
