The chronicle stinks.

I have no idea what the print version says, but the online version today says, as a headline "Rockets won't keep Taylor, Anderson". To me, at first glance, that headline says that the Rockets have decided not to keep Maurice Taylor and Shandon Anderson. This of course, is a huge shock, since the Chron itself reported last week that the Rocket's primary goal is to re-sign its own free agents. What the article actually says, of course, is that Taylor and Anderson exercised their options to become free agents, as expected. But it doesn't stop, then it says something about how the Rockets are pursuing Chris Webber in free agency, another stupid statement which is contraverted, again, by the same article from last week which said that the Rockets were no longer interested in Webber. Then to top it off, they throw at the end that the Rockets added Richard Jefferson, Jason Collins, and Brandon Armstrong in last weeks draft.

Add this in to Granny Franny Blinebury's Grumpy Old Man tirade about eddie griffin, which has no basis in fact other than his half-assed musings about kobe bryant's rookie season that I am sure he followed so closely, and the chron really takes it to the Rockets today.

Now I know that the first article was probably some oversight by carrying a poorly researched, badly written wire service story, but Jesus Christ, if that is the kind of hometown sports coverage we get from Houston's leading information news source, I should start reading the Post. Oh wait, that's right, the chronicle bought it and fired everybody.

OK, that's funny... I've looked through the Chronicle's Rockets section, and found no such article.

Perhaps you should provide a link for this alleged article.

When mav posted this thread, I went to see if it was there and sure enough he was right.

Now I go back there and the wire report he was referring to is now missing.

I guess someone let the chronicle know that they were being misleading with their titles...

What is so bad about Blinebury's article?Basically he says not to expect too much from Griffin (in other words, don't get your hopes up) in his rookie year. He also says that since Cato is making $6,000,000 then they will have to pay Hakeem more than that.

Yes. The Chronicle stinks. Without any competition, they don't really have to put out a decent product. It makes me glad that more and more people get their news from the internet (cnn.com).

I saw the same story on line just like mav3434 said. I have not checked back but it was there. All the story amounted to was Anderson opting out of his contract, Mo being a free agent. While the headline was misleading the story sad nothing that would imply Taylor or any other Rocket free agent would not be re-signed.
