Yes, 4 practices before preseason....a few between games....a few before opening night........4 days between opening night to game two of regular season. ____________________ Made a big difference from regular season game one to game two. Did you think Silas only sets starters first preseason game and then sits on it? Does he not have an obligation to look at Christopher? Garuba? Mathew Hurt? Khyrie Thomas? Armoni Brooks? Anthony Lamb? Bey? Exum? Kenyon? Nix? Augustin? Theis? All the different combinations require minutes together 3 games of and practices to sort through who will be starting, who will be 2nd unit, who will be moved from 2-way contract or exhibit 10 to 4 year deal (Armoni), who will be waived (Exum,Lamb), who will be cut and brought to Vipers. 4th preseason was a dry run with things somewhat set and final cuts set. The players will tell you practice is nothing like real game competition Game 1 of regular season.....all these kids said they were nervous. Got punched in the face. Refs let the T-Wolves mug our players.....rewarded the Minnesota fans for going to the game. They got to see a slaughter of the Rockets. Game 2 of regular season.....Hornacek was interviewed going into halftime. "what is the difference between game one and this game?" Hornacek answered, "our defense is blitzing their Pick-n-Roll like the T-Wolves did to us in game one." (paraphrasing) So yes, a lot goes on in the preseason.....more than just one and done, kick back your shoes and enjoys preseason games 2, 3 and 4. A lot went on from game 1 to game 2 in adjustments. Usually takes new players a month to get use to coaching schemes and new players timing, where they like the ball on the court. I can tell you one thing, someone lit a charge under these players to do better from 3 before the OKC game. Tate, Gordon and Wood made an obvious effort to make a statement with that early. And they did. *Side Note: teams with poor guard play will make us look better. OKC doesn't have the best guard point guard play. SBA looked kinda lost out there and Dort doesn't shoot well. Russell played solid and Anthony Edwards played out of his mind. Developed a much more proven 3-pt shot now. But we are lucky it was Anthony Edwards and not Edward Scissor hands All of our Rockets would be dead from slashed wrists. Non called slashed wrists.
Steve Nash 6'5" wingspan Ray Allen 6'5" with a 6'8" wingspan Klay Thompson 6'7 with a 6'9 Wingspan Allen Iverson 6'0 with a 6'3 Wingspan Manu Ginobli 6'6 with a 6'7 Wingspan just as dumb as the "he's really 6'4" takes we had before the draft.
I am on record as saying we have far too many like skilled players...and veterans in the way of their development. DD
Great so we drafted Ginobili with the 2nd pick of the draft when we could have had a Garnett Duncan Akeem hybrid. Oh wait Ginobili came into the league without a broken shooting form.
When his shot is on jts on just like some of the greatest scorers. Those heat checks when he gets comfortable in his role are going to be fun
It's nice that his 3 point shot is falling. He's a good enough shooter that we knew he would start making them. But we didn't use the 2nd overall pick to get Kyle Korver. I'd really like to seem him succeed at something other than catch and shoot 3s.
U haven’t seen the blowby’s on the perimeter? Eventually those blocks and missed layups will be dunks and made finger rolls. He makes nice passes on occasion too
Yeah that's what I'm saying. The blowbys don't really mean anything if you can't finish, get fouled, or pass. So far every time he blows by these guys on the perimeter it leads to a blocked shot or a turnover. If he can start getting dunks, layups, free throws, or assists on those possessions I'll be thrilled.
Disagree that it doesn’t mean anything. It shows he can get by his man with ease and doesn’t have issues getting to the rim. The finishing will come eventually. And there have been a few times he was fouled and the refs were acting like they developed sudden onset cataracts.
This is the new Era. Everyone has to be able to dribble and shoot. The pf and centers with the back to the basket is gone. Even the stand still 3 point shooters have to do more.
