he wasn’t, but we’ve got someone on here saying he should be because he’s allegedly our best playmaker
For what it's worth Silas is trying to find chemistry and/or rotation matchups that work. Sengun was 2 assists, 3 turnovers but 132 ORtg in game 1 Silas gave Sengun more of a facilitator role in game 2 (watched both games) But it resulted in only one more FGA (from 4 vs Wolves to 5 vs OKC) 1 assist, 6 turnovers and an ORtg of 55 (according to basketball- reference.com) This is a work in progress. Some people still have the Rockets on the old NBA preseason schedule of 7 or 8 games. This current Rockets team needed every bit of 7 or 8 preseason games since they have so many new pieces. In essence, the Thunder game was the 6th preseason game. Unfortunately these last two count for real.....but the Rockets won 1. Happy, happy, joy, joy.
None of it really counts for real this season and that’s ok. If we are beating the really bad teams and competing with the average and better teams with an occasional win by the end of the year it will be a success.
So how many pages will this thread turn into? Legendary thread in the making. I'm guessing at least 1500 pages
yeah I figured I’d get some push back on that. Cause it’s not fundamentally pure ala Reggie, Ray or Steph. from the little hitch to a bit of a chicken wing. so when I said his form is solid…. I’m saying it’s solid enough. Like it looks smooth. It’s repeatable. He’s not getting blocked. He’s hit at decent clips at all his moves over many games from the same distances already. Etc. he can adjust it with tweaks as the years go by but it’s the type of form that should get him 80% from the line year one. Even not being “perfect”. but if for whatever reason he can’t start hitting after a month plus… then sure look at the form. I don’t see that as likely but who knows.
Even if this was a contender on paper, the amount of time the core of this roster has spent together on the court is practically zero. It has to be messy.
Been re-watching the game and his plays, and I'm liking him even more. He was making good reads and passing well, which surprised me because that wasn't his strength (judging by all the reports). He was quick and decisive with the ball most of the time. His numbers are lacking right now because of many factors, but I think his greatest hurdle is mental. You could tell that he was playing tentative and running from the action when faced with a energetic and disciplinned defense. He's probably thinking a little bit too much, and you can see in his shots and movements most of the time, that he is not as confident as he was, for example, in summer league. I think he's putting too much pressure on himself, and that is slowing him down IMO. He needs to relax and use his physical tools to attack, like that crazy dunk attempt, or his behind the back crossovers that put defenders on their a$$. Start the game with a couple of drives, get some layups and dunks to up the energy and confidence, and the shots will start falling. I'm surprised Silas hasn't drawn a play for him to get some easy buckets, like a backdoor cut or some screen action. He started the first attack both games, but both times he passed the ball to KPJ, went to the corner and stayed there. We need to use his athleticism and agility better, those are his best tools right now...
Yeah I don't understand why a role player is playing Point Guard. Tate should only play make at the top of the circle and make a extra pass. Tate dribbling the ball up the court, spinning around and turning the ball over. Jalen Green can definitely play Point Guard. His passing and court vision is way better than Tate.
I agree, without urgency of showcasing Wall/Eric Gordon/House..... It's all about the learning curve of these kids. I was wondering why House was subbed in before Kenyon last game. I think it's to somehow bring up the value of DanUl
For various reasons, including the FO wants to trim the roster, I think Silas is going to go with the "Vets" which includes KPJ.
I remember watching the warriors first few years with curry & co get destroyed by everyone.Curry wasnt that good yet.The Rockets would embarrass them every time. Its gonna take jalen some growing up in the nba to reach is potential. These kids are 19!thats crazy.Future stars for sure.
We need this to be true. But I have smile at this because everyone was shetting on this very same argument when it was applied to Mobley.
Didn't the players want to do away with preseason games? Owners want to generate whatever revenue they can from them? Young fringe players want to try to make a team? Taking a look at Christopher, Garuba to see where they stand Ask Lamb, Armoni, Hurt, others if preseason is a waste Wasn't Eric Gordon out from illness for preseason games 2, 3 and 4. How did they get timing down with Gordon?.....spacing provided? Computer simulation? You play too much NBA2K..... Where everything is rosey, world's don't collide, they merge together seamlessly without error or delays
Name me 1 other player besides Curry that has Short arms and was successful? Curry didn't come in with a broken shot that looks like Chuck Hayes shooting a free throw but faster. Kobe = 6'6 -6'11 wingspan Harden =6'5 -6'11 wingspan Jordan- 6'6 -6'11 wingspan Kpj-6'4/5 -6'9 wingspan probably 6'6 with a 6'11 wingspan now Dwade -6'4 -6'11 wingspan Green-6'6 -6'7 wingspan Mcw-6'6 6'7 wingspan Curry 6'3 with a 6'4 wingspan See where I'm getting at... He can Kobe mentality all he wants but he's not built that way. From what it looks like we drafted MCW part 2.
