I don't see what's so bad about an abundance of tipsy women at a bar??

Of course, those would be the nights that no women showed up and the entire bar erupts into a brawl.

This whole thing sounds like a Phil Hendrie bit.

To the people who disagree with the ruling:

Where do you stand on the bake sales commonly held by college republicans (in protest of affirmative action) at which minorities pay less for goods than whites do?

To people who agree with the ruling:

What about senior citizen discounts? Age discrimination?

The owner of any business has the right to give anybody or any group discounts to encourage those people to do business. I say even if the discount is race related, it's legal.

Men were not asked to pay more than the fair price in Ladies Night. Discrimination means you unfairly burden a certain group of people. The men are not burdened in this case.

When I lived in Tennessee I used to live in a singles only complex. No families (no kids). Then a rule or law was passed that said that was not legal. I guess I can understand that.

But if that's the case how can there be retirement communities? Why shouldn't I be allowed to live in their community?

This guy has just become the Steve Bartman of New Jersy.

dude...it's not that i don't see some logic behind it...it's that i can't believe we let logic and abstract principles get in the way of living our lives. it's freaking ladies' night...who the hell cares?? "we're trying to have a society here!!!"

note that this is not a court's legal take on this...this is a state agency making this decision...and then writing "rules" on it. i'd like to see what a panel of judges in NJ say about this.

note that the courts that have dealt with this have said ladies' nights are fine...because they don't make it more expensive for men to attend...but rather cut their regular prices for women to encourage them to attend. it's a business move...it's a discounted price...and it works in that industry. and it hurts no one!!!

the idea that someone spent the time and energy bringing this matter before some state agency is utterly ridiculous.

I understand the logic of it
    Ladies night is discriminitory

Ladies pay less then men . . .
the main reason is because they ladies
the sub reason is to attract the men.

Let's say ole boy is gay? or perhaps a crossdresser
who did not get the benefit of ladies night
he felt he was singled out or discriminated against
    [this is PURE speculation]

We do let alot of discrimination go . . .
things from handicap parking to Seniors pricing on menus
    etc . . . .

I cannot say I generally agree with the decision
but i do understand the logic of it.
