I totally agree. I've always thought they were too similar to be playing in the backcourt together. That being said, Cat actually impressed me the way he played this year. I think he can be a good compliment to a pure PG and and a spot 3 pt shooter. All three could mesh well with Yao requiring double teams down low.
last time i checked Francis altered his game quite a bit last year. He had his share of problems but Yao Ming was clearly the number one option. Steve got teammates involved and didn't look to shoot everytime he got the ball. Control isn't a problem, i think you should focus more on Yao's fatigue and Steve's turnovers.
Didn't Yao average like 10 shots per game? I hope our #1 option takes a few more shots than that next year. If not we need to find a new option.
13 shots per game, while only playing 32 minutes. If Yao can increase his stamina and learn how to get position on guys like Rasho Nesterovich those numbers will go up.
yeah, I also noticed that Juwonna Man is a LOSER, he has never won anything in this league and never will. He is an overrated, overpaid scrub. We already have Mo Taylor who has similar game to him, we don't need another.
Are you nuts? Or are you just trying to bust my chops? Tyronn Lue is the 3rd PG. THIRD PG. I am not expecting him to start. And I agree that Howard isn't a center, that's why I said in my post we could package him with the TE for a big man. You telling me you wouldn't want Brent Barry and T-Mac as your starting guard rotation with JJ, Taylor and Yao? That lineup is "horrible"?
If it means getting T-Mac then I have no problem adding Howard to the team. But now I noticed your signature, "Ming Dynasty + Stevie Franchise = Rockets will be Emperors of the NBA for years to come." That explains it all. If you believe that Francis and Yao will be emperoros of the NBA then I guess there is no reason I should bother responding to you to change your mind. I prefer to believe that Yao Ming + Tracy McGrady = Championships.
Some of you are a little too obsessed with a backup PG. Who really cares about a backup point guard? We can draft one or pick one up cheap. Or hell, has everyone forgotten Mike Wilks contributed when he was on the court? Screw bench players. We didn't start any forwards last season. That's where we really need help. I think if we could land a superstar like TMac, we HAVE to consider it. Don't necessarily need to pull the trigger, but we need to consider it. In the meantime, I'm with Sane. Mobley & Francis is too redundant. Slide JJ to the 2 and lets pick up some forwards.
My bad, I didn't mean to jump on you like that I just saw that line-up and asides from T-Mac, Yao and Barry, those other players (Ward, Lue, Pike, A. Griffin, Weatherspoon) are worthless. Ward is allright if he's only going to play 10-15 mins/g, Lue is a complete scrub, Pike can't get his own shot and last year struggle greatly even when he was wide open, A. Griffen is only a defensive player who didn't even play last season & seems to be injury riddled and I'd rather develop Nachbar than have him eat up minutes, Weatherspoon helped by getting extra possessions and hustle points but is undersized and past his prime, we need a real PF. I think we can do better. I would love to get T-Mac, he is one of the few players I would want to trade Steve for but I just feel we would be giving up soooooo much and we would have to sit through another average season of winning 40-45 games. The other issue is that T-Mac has to shoot 23-24 shots/game to get his 30-32 points/game. How is that going to help Yao? Believe me I would to get T-Mac, I just don;t want to trade 3 of our starters and possible future picks for him and have to rebuild again. I'd rather get a solid PF and good backup PG and develop Nachbar at the 3. Peace.
1. Point Guard: all this talk about a "backup" pg concerns me. we need a STARTING pg. steve cannot handle running a team for 40+ min/game. i believe he IS capable of playing pg for short stretches of a game. steve is best utilized, IMO, rotating back and forth from pg to sg based on the opponents (players and team) on the floor at a particular time. 2. Forward: obviously our deficiency at power forward kills us in close games and in 4th quarters. IMO, we need a power forward who can play consistently both on offense AND defense. read: "consistently." i'm not implying that we need a superstar caliber pf, just one that has a nice balance in their game. cato plays defense pretty well and rebounds and blocks above average. however, he has NO SHOT whatsoever. mo taylor has a superior offensive game. i found myself impressed time and time again during the season with his ability to get his own shot. he has a leathal mid-long range jumper and can also create around the basket. what strengths he has offensively he completely lacks defensively. he is a defensive liability when he's on the court. so, we need someone who can blend these two players talents to start games. either cato or motaylor can bring energy at this position off the bench. i think jj is a fine small forward, but i'm not sure he's an 82 game starter at that position. boki is worthless. sorry to ramble...just had to throw in my .02.
All of this trade talk is rather pointless once you look at WHO will be making the trades: None other than Carroll (Watch me make 3 1st round draft picks disappear) Dawson. You folks are depending on a guy who wouldn't know NBA talent if it was locked in a closet with him. Oh, he'll make trades alright. It's just that they won't be good ones nor will they improve the Rocket's fortunes one wit. We now return you to your annually scheduled Rockets' off-season now in progress...
Now I am not a big CD fan , BUT you are not giving him his due. he acquired SF for garbage, and the consensus on the EG trade was that we were getting the top talent in the draft "at that time". He is not all bad, but I wouldn't put him on any top 10 list either.
you make it seem as if EG wasn't talented... He had all the Upside in the world and could have developed into on of the greats... just happen that is gamble went wrong with EG's decision to be a dumba$$.... CD did get Cassel, Horry, Harrington, KT, Mobley, and the list goes on...he may not be liked at the moment... but even you bandwagoners should give him the credit he deserves..
Hou Trades= Francis, Cato, Mobley Sea Trades= Allen, Lewis, Barry It works salary wise. I doubt that Seattle would do it, but I would love it if they did. Alll three can stroke it. Prototype two guard (assuming he is healthy). Point guard with size and skill. Hometown kid comes home. Next we try to pick up Magloire or E. Thomas (both preferrably). Get a back up point like D. Jones or C. Arroyo 1- Barry, Jones, Wilks 2- Allen, Pike 3- JJ, Nachbar, Padgett 4- Magloire, Taylor 5- Ming, E. Thomas Pretty solid. What do you think?
