Even after all I've seen from Green I'd still take him... The upside Green has is super star potential. He unfortunately came into the league with the worst coach I have ever seen in my life. Green is out there playing streetball with a bunch of players that keep ignoring him even when open. There is no system, no plays, no structure. Its basically Green do what you can when the ball just so happens to end up in your hands. No doubt Green has a long way to go but with a little bit of structure and a true point guard that can draw attention he would be fantastic. Harden/Dame would overnight turn Green around so quick. Right now its Green v 5, if he wants to score do w/e and good luck...
It was historic. At least 16 pts, 9 boards, 6 assists, 1 steal, 1 block performance has only happened ONCE by rookie in 1st game. That was Ayton.
the G-League vs NCAA debate rages on I feel like Green would’ve had more structure in the NCAA…he has yet to be in an offense that isn’t “just go out there and do whatever”
Sengun AND Mobley would have been spectacular together. But we need to play the hand we have. Green will be fine in time. Sengun has to be featured now.
And those grown ass men in G League are not nearly as fast, strong or as skilled as the ones in the NBA.
WOW!!! Ayton? OMG no way... Ayton? The Ayton? We always knew Mobley would come in and impact the game faster than anyone in the draft, its no surprise. His team is way better than ours talent wise, if he was in Houston with Silas he would look just as awful as Green....
I don't care how Green does in his first game, first week, or even first month. Once he gets accustomed to the speed and physicality, he'll be fine. Besides, it's not like we harbor any hope whatsoever of making the playoffs. This year is all about three things: 1) Getting the youngsters up to speed, 2) Assessing whether Wood is worthy of a long-term commitment, and 3) Getting John Wall and Eric Gordon the f$#k off our roster. Cunningham, Green, Mobley and Suggs will all be stars in this league. Comparing them by how they perform out of the gate is moronic.
Are you really trying re-write RECENT history now? If not, your stupidity knows no bounds. Go back and re-read all the draft profiles and media analysis. GREEN, not Mobley, was supposed to show out IMMEDIATELY. There is a reason that Jalen is consensus projected ROY. His athleticism and offense was expected to carry him while he gained strength, improved defense and ball handling. Mobley was projected by NBA executives to be the best draft pick IN FIVE YEARS.
All that and a - 18 in an L ... garbage time numbers just dont hit as hard for me. Mobley is being insulated by vets and has no pressure of expectations. Not unlike Jalen Green who is being tasked with being a catalyst for this team - maybe thats why Mobley didnt want to be here - lofty expectations for a first year player. Im sure Magic fans are also taking a sht on Suggs this morning too. Scottie Barnes a bust already? Dont get me started on Mr Glass Cade Cunningham. Way to early to start to pound chests and look for accolades in the "talent evaluation" category - even for Clutch Fans.
True, but I don't remember a single draft profile (or even a CF post) saying Green was going to be a star from his very first game. There are maybe 10 guys in NBA history who were projected as superstars who actually delivered on that promising from their first game.
Cavs got more vet presence/better team and Mobley played heavy minutes in a more competitive game(at one point down 16 and getting out of hand until Mobley was benched and Cavs made a run). -18 but all around pretty stats-exactly what i expect from him. Unfortunately for Green, there's going to be a lot of blow out losses for the Rockets this season. I personally just don't like KPj's fit with Green on top of never being that high on KPj anyway. We need a true point. I expect Mobleys stats will look better at the end of their rookie seasons and as of now, i just don't see Green getting ROY while KPj is around. 35% USG in game 1 compared to 17% for Green. Not a fan of KPj's play style. He's just a a kid on the playground pretending to be James Harden but completely sucks and i've said it before- i'm sick of watching James Harden style basketball. It's ugly and everyone is blaming Silas(AL-p needs to start), but i think KPj is the main problem in terms of our ugly ball. Point is, don't get so ahead of yourselves Mobley fans. You may win the year 1 battle, but Green will win the career war.
Actually Suggs was projected to have the most impact instantly, Mobley was the more mature point forward/center unicorn with size and defense. Mobley was going to be able to impact the game differently than Green because although offense will take time for him his defensive skillset would still be there early and naturally. Rebounding, shot blocking and sound defense is something we expected of him therefor having a bigger impact than Green who is basically an offensive specialist. Mobley's offense thou seems to be coming faster than expected. Stop being dumb bro, Mobley was always going to have a bigger impact early on for his natural leaping and blocking ability alone... Sit down...
Michal Carter-Williams had 22 points, 12 assists, 7 rebounds, and 9 steals in a win against the defending champion, LeBron James-led Miami Heat in his first game. That guy had a better career than Mobley or Green will have, right?
Mobley looks had a good debut, but I can only say I watched the highlights if I’m being honest. He looked to get a lot of his points in the flow of the offense and by good playmaking from his teammates. Still, he was in the right place and the right time and his jumper looked solid.
Rubio and Love are vets. The rest of that roster is also pretty young. For those that played over 20 min in the season opener. Markkanen - 24 J Allen - 23 Mobley - 20 Sexton - 22 Garland - 21 Okoro - 20 --- Rubio - 31
