He spent half of 2019 relieving. In the 2018 postseason, he also played both roles. He's done this before. And he was ineffective. The LA-ATL game just interviewed Scherzer and he's talking about the problems it causes to his arm and his routine. Urias has been ineffective having been thrown in that role. And these are also guys who've done it before. No reason to mess with Framber and run through a bunch of bullpen pitchers today when you can just use those guys in game 7. With the number of 4+ run innings in this series (not to mention yesterday's Atlanta game), there's no reason to mess with the one pitcher you have who's doing awesome just so you can throw 3 or 4 bullpen pitchers out there and hope for the best.
I don't EVER want to hear that Cora is a good Mgr!!!! EVER!!! How in the world do you make the decision to pitch to Yordan, with men on 2nd and 3rd, one out, and 1st base open. ESPECIALLY after what he had done to Sale tonight and that Correa was struggling against him. Would have set up the double play putting him on but you made the decision to pitch to him. WHAT AN IDIOT.....and let me say thank you!! That is all.
I am really proud of these guys. Great job of staying focused and getting done what had to be done. Don't take the pedal off the metal just yet though.
The double play in the 5th was the play of the game. I think it was the biggest swing in win probability (at least according to ESPN’s chart) and then the offense came to life the next inning. Ground ball pitchers and a great defense work well together.
