absolutely. i was responding to jeff's comment about requiring them to be licensed...not about them having to strut around displaying the ID cards.

the ID cards seem dangerous and stupid, but is it really scarlet letter-ish? it's not like they have to wear the ID cards at the grocery store or anything, it's just while they are working. hopefully i don't need an ID card to determine who the strippers are when i walk into a strip club...

    ;)

I think the fact that it has their real name is the part that seems intended to humiliate and discourage (and is probably dangerous for them). Strippers use fake names for a reason.

Jeff, barbers are licensed though they aren't related to health or safety (anymore).

In addition to the uses mentioned by Chance and TL, I would also think that it would be assurance that a club has no underage strippers working. That's a valid concern. Even so, I agree that 'prominent display' is a mistake. Would it not be better to show the license upon demand by a police officer?

That cracks me up. Sort of like wanting to hire a hitman who hasn't been convicted of murder!

Do you really want to get confrontational with a stripper? Doesn't seem the best angle to play when you're in search of a satisfying lap dance.

Never underestimate the willingness of many people to try everything they can think of to get rid of anything that might be remotely sexual (just look at South Arlington where a Hooters restaurant is the battleground).
