Since the season began? Prob nothing but I wonder if he wasn't there last off-season of things to different in terms of coach hiring and Watson trade demand
Easterby is Cal’s problem. Caserio is the person you need to focus on. Easterbunny Watson's legal troubles started before the trade demand, we just didn't know about them yet. It seems the trade demand and GM saga are tied to the legal stuff. I think Watson thought he could run away from this stuff. Getting traded was a way to do that. Easterby may have had PI's keep track of Watson's activities and that's why Watson wanted him gone. However, the Texans didn't fully know the extent of Watson's massage adventures. The reason that Equipment manager was fired was he let Watson borrow massage tables. This situation was ALWAYS going to blow up when Watson rejected the first settlement of the 1st accuser. If he settled, he probably would have been traded anyway. Cal McNair chose to keep Easterby and that was one of the reason for the trade demand. I still think Caserio will go to McNair if Easterby becomes a hindrance to what he is trying to do (even though he is friends with Easterby).
I agree with this. But the truth is we have no clue whose side Cal would take in that situation and that should tell you that Easterby is not solely Cal's problem.
People assume Easterby has some hooks in the Cal. Think about it, Cal was willing to let the new GM decided Easterby's fate. Easterby played the Caserio card because he was friends with him. Cal wanted Caserio before. Caserio doesn't see Easterby in a non on-field football rule as a problem. Cal may like Easterby, but I don't think he is not beholden to him. Caserio is football first. If Easterby becomes a problem, I can see him going to Cal.
Cal also said Easterby wasn’t going to be part of the GM search. Yet you just admitted Easterby played the Caserio card (which I agree with). Cal can say whatever he wants. It has proven to be complete bs whether he intends it to be or not.
Easterby wasn't part of the search. However, He did have the Caserio card that he played (I'm sure after talking with Caserio) and probably reminded Cal that he wanted Caserio before. Easterby was protecting his job.
I couldn't figure out the point of all these one year prove-it deals, but now I get it. You give them half a season to prove it, then trade them for draft capital before they are a free agent. We are basically a tanking team for showcasing players to trade to other teams.
After u got trade rape so badly it led to the collapse of your franchise, basically this is all u can do. I honestly think rebuilding in football is the hardest to accomplish in sports
