Ben Simmons isn’t a real all star????
all stars are voted by fans
All nba teams are voted by actual experts
How can you possibly claim he isn’t a “real” all star? or are you referring to wall, who may or may not still he an all star. Can’t really assume too much from last season since it was clear he was still rehabbing back to game shape/speed,

What is a “rebuild?” Is it not creating a new team out of assets — be they drafted, traded, or signed?

why can’t we attempt a faster rebuild?

btw I’m not all under the delusion that adding Ben Simmons makes us anywhere close to a contender. But he is still VERY young. And is ELITE in certain areas. There are not many ELITE players on defense or playmaking. Ben Simmons like players are not a dime a dozen.

i mean in the sense of him being an actual allstar level player in terms of his contributions to a team. I don't care who fans vote that, that's irrelevant, but simmons is not and has not been a top 30 player in any season (or however many allstars get picked)

    A) I was saying that fans vote for all stars, but experts vote for nba all teams, and he has been on both all-nba and all-defensive team. So you can’t say he’s a fake all star unless you’re saying your smarter than all the execs and experts that work in the league and vote for these players.

    b) not a top 30 player in any of the years selected as an all star? How do you determine that? Because again, people in the field for a living (execs, scouts, journalists, analysts) disagree. Not scientific by any means, but did a quick Google search for 2019 nba player rankings and he is ranked 26th. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.si.com/.amp/nba/2018/09/10/top-100-nba-players-2019-lebron-james-stephen-curry-dirk-nowitzki

    You’re
free to make the claim that he has never been a top 30 player, but outside of this fan forum, the industry disagrees.

This, to me, reads as: “he doesn’t average 27 and 10, so he’s not an all star”

or maybe we all got so used to harden we think anything less than what harden did isn’t an all star. When in fact harden was so far beyond the norm in terms of production for all stars. A clear HOF player.

I think Simmons not being movable is Morey's stubbornness more than anything
    There are offers . . .. but he insisting on 1$ for 1$ value . . .which ain't happening

he's not ranked top 30 in any metric that you can use, stuff like true shooting he's in the 80s, in the 50s in PER, around 40 in the win shares metrics

At what point does Philly just take the best deal? Even if he returns and plays at his previous level, does his value even rise?

    Gordon/Wood/Tate+Bucks first.

Morey won't trade him here after Tilman refused to trade Harden to Philly.

If we do this trade, we easily add another 2 seasons of being a shitty team.

The guy is a great talent defensively and has great ability to create. But he has problems scoring, he has problems with a team mentality, and he will not be worth his contract with any team he goes on.

I agree with many that a 1-to-1 swap for Wall doesn't look so bad. But there's so much more potential in FRPs.

If a disgruntled 6MOTY comes available like w/ the Harden trade, we need to be ready with real assets. While I want to believe Ben Simmons can be our Kevin Martin in this kind of scenario, he clearly is not. He's not a veteran when he's acting like a child, and he's not a shooter that can be molded to fit any roster. Can he be? Yes. Will he be? Probably never will become a shooter, nor would he be willing to take on any role that the coach assigns him.

I know you have this weird obsession with trying to get the 10th seed for the playin game with simmons, i just don’t get it

And im not trading Wood in a return for Simmons.

Maybe Wood + Gordon to Philly (eh not sure WHY with Toni but sure..), Ben to Indy and Turner + asset to us?

I know theres a whole other thread for that type of talk, i just dont see a straight up Simmons deal involving Wood be beneficial for us at all.

Do you think it's possible to win a championship if Ben Simmons is your best player? How about second best player? If no to both, do you think it's possible for a team to win a championship if you are paying a max to someone who isn't one of the best two players on your team?

Just wanted to note I have ads for Ben 10 and Ben-Hur.

I'd maybe be OK with a straight swap for Wall. Let Lucas spend some time with the guy, ease him in, and see what you have. Trade him for pennies if that's what he's worth.
