No..... John Wall should be showcased to move at the mid season deadline.

Too many people have accepted mediocrity because they can't deal with a rebuild.

Hmm, so John Wall will go to Miami to be Kyle Lowry's back up? John Wall is a proud man and he is not going to come off the bench. A reunion in Washington would be more likely.

Rockets leak to strike fear into other Eastern teams to strike a trade to stop it.

They won't pay him the full 90. Plus it doesn't even help the rockets to let him play. He just takes up the KPJ and Greens minutes

Look at the bright side. He led a valiant effort to help us secure a top pick in the 2021 draft. If you would of kept Westbrook, we are likely picking 18, but I guess at least we would of increase his trade value to net us Harrell/Kuzma/Caldwell-Pope.

Without Wall's $47m the Rockets have a total of $81,131,552 in total salary.

The salary cap floor is $107,100,000.

They'd be $25,968,448 below the cap floor.

Sure , you could spend that $25,968,448 on another player ..... but that takes minutes away from these kids.

With the rest of the team being on relatively cheap contracts , they have to pay someone , and that someone may as well be Wall who's willing to sit out and get paid while the kids row the boat.

Most people see John Wall's contract as a negative , I see it as a positive in a team building aspect. It's expiration coincides with that of EG's along with KPJ , Wood & Tate being free agents on relatively small cap holds.
That contract is a boon for free agency in 2023/24.

It shouldn't be difficult to lure a quality FA to come play with Green , Sengun & JGup in year three .... and you are able to retain Wood , Tate & KPJ should their play be up to par.

The way Stone laid out his timeline was absolutely brilliant.

I get the feeling that Wall actually is going to suit up with the Rockets and sooner than you think. I think any team wanting to trade for him in order to play him will actually ask the Rockets to play him a few games to make sure he’s still good and healthy. The second reason is injuries are bound to happen and I think the coaching staff will welcome a playmaker.

I don’t think he’s going to Miami either because of what Bima laid out earlier and I don’t think he wants to backup Lowry. The Clippers still make the most sense to me followed by Brooklyn. Would also be interesting in Golden State.

I would promise him a buyout if he came off the bench until the trade deadline. I would actually promise both Wall & Gordon that if the agreed to just mentor KPJ/Green/Paolo/Sengun and try to help them win some games until the deadline. Gordon I’d keep all year just for that reason

I would rather do a buyout than take back a contract honestly. Any contracts that extend past this year only hurts us if the player isn’t in the master plan
