Seems like a mentally weak spoiled child since day one. I think it was a huge red flag back then to just completely give up on your college team because you just don't care. I guess no one should be surprised that he is essentially pulling the same thing on an NBA team that is a contender. It's too bad he is one of the most physically talented players in the past couple of years
Can't blame Ben. Whole team shitted on him and city. Morey threw a b****ass tantrum when he was here too and blamed it on his daughter
what is Rich Paul doing? no agent would be telling his client to do this. Must be listening to the new Adele album and losing himself.
Why the f**k would anybody want Simmons at this point. It's not that he's a flawed player, it's that he seems to have no interest in addressing his flaws and thinks he's fine as it.
Morey is really a trash GM now. You really think you're getting a star back for Simmons and you're letting this distraction continue. The longer he waits the worse Ben's trade value becomes. He should have been traded soon after the Harden trade didnt go through. Ben checked out after that.
That's the first thing I'm thinking too. I mean the goal is to get traded right? How are you reaching your goal by doing what you have doing? Yes there is a case to be made that if you just make things toxic enough that maybe you'll get out and the team you are going to won't have to give up assets so theoretically the team will be better that you are going to. However in this case he has significantly lowered the amount of suitors who would want him on their team because he's portrayed himself as a weak minded baby in so many ways. San Antonio... Miami... etc.... good luck getting those teams to jump on the phone with Morey to bring your butt to camp. If you'll act like a 6 year only in practice towards Doc Rivers, why wouldn't you act the same way if Gregg Popovich was giving you tough love? As an agent Rich Paul should have engaged the team early this Summer, and told Ben to stay out of the way, and let him work with Morey to get a deal done. You also cannot expect someone with the pedigree of Morey to think he can be bullied into taking some BS low ball offer that Sacramento or whatever team offers. To me, Rich Paul is showing himself to be a pretty pathetic agent, and just road the coat tails of Lebron for years. He's going to ruin the era of player empowerment for the rest of the players because Morey's act here is just going to embolden other teams to do the same thing the next time a player throws a temper tantrum. The team does NOT have to pay you in the end if you don't do your job.
I would say it's more like he gives zero F's. I think he has other things he'd like to do outside of basketball, and would be perfectly happy if he go booted out of the league. While he's here though, he's just going to do what he wants to do with his team, and not going to be bullied around. You see that with his lack of desire to be in Houston through a rebuild with an owner that would be breathing down his neck about every pennie on the payroll while he's just trying to have fun paying for 2nd round picks, and trading 75% of the roster every season. It's a fantasy football league for him now cause he doesn't really care. Maybe that makes him a great GM.... maybe it makes him the worst GM in the league. I dunno.
Yeah. I don't think Pop would want a guy like that on his team, no matter what the price is. Pop: Ben, I want you to set picks and roll to the basket. Ben: No, I'm the PG. Someone else sets picks for me. Pop: Do what I say or you'll ride the pine. Ben: Fine. I'll tell them to trade me. SA is a dump anyway. Where am I supposed to have my socialite living?
I wrote about it somewhere else here. Givony is really going around belly-dancing about his take back in the day. As he should. Consensus #1 pick, monster rookie year, ROY, the future was limitless. Givony saw something very early on in the kid's mental make-up, that turned out to be prophetic. BTW here is a link to the article, extracted from Givony's tweet: https://web.archive.org/web/2016031...prospect-in-the-2016-nba-draft-190023711.html
I'm not putting the blame on Morey for this (this being the Simmons drama) because it was Doc, and not Daryl, that blasted Simmons and it was Ben, and not Daryl, that decided to have a bad case of the yips in the playoffs. How he comes out of this in terms of return will be 1000% on him though. Morey would be lucky to get back Gordon and House for Simmons right now. Of course...all of this could have prevented if Daryl read the room correctly and had made his first offer as his best offer when Harden was available. Anyone that has a heartbeat could have told him that Stone/Fertitta would have wanted Daryl to grab his ankles in return for Harden.
