Just on an optimistic note, as bad as our pitching looks, theirs is bigger trash...

Their pitching has an era a half a run higher at home. Their starters averaged roughly 4.50 era and the whole staff roughly a 4.50 era at home...

Based on that, Odorizzi and Greinke would both be above average pitchers for the Red Sox and would likely be their 3/4 starters in a 7 game series...

We should have the pitching advantage in all but one of the remaining games...

Small sample size anything can happen but it's a reason to think it's far from over...

Nice stat. These guys have been here before and fought through adversity. We’ve had badass starting pitchers go south before. We’re gonna adjust. Tucker and Yordan haven’t warmed up yet. Yuli just getting started. Maybe a surprise start with the hot-hitting Castro.

When do you want to hit the batting cage?

    I'm mostly ready.

At least there wasn't the usual pressure after the 2md inning.

Disappointed in Tucker and Diaz dodging HBP in the 9th. No guarantees that Yuli/Castro still hit homers but they should both understand at that point we needed men on base however we could get them.

I'm guessing the hope for game 4 is to get 5 from Javier and Greinke.

Urquidy is a big game pitcher, and the pressure is really on him to get through at least 4 or 5 solid. If we get another dud the pen is gonna be at a breaking point.

Christian Javier has so much movement on his Fastball.

Better than any of the Starters excluding McCullers.

Christian Javier can be a Ace, if the Astros give him a opportunity, Luis Garcia should lose his spot as a Number 2, Framber I think can bounce back.

Luis Garcia as a Relief pitcher would be better off

I’m not sure they keep Garcia on the roster. I know they’d lose him for any potential WS game, but the difference in his last few performances vs the rest of the season is pretty stark. I can’t imagine it’s going to just go away in the next few days. They can probably wait until they see how Urquidy does, but at some point you need to just cover innings and can’t carry a pitcher to save for next series if there even is one.

I think we’ll see Javier in game 4 as the “bulk” pitcher whether he’s starting or comes in after an inning or 2. The only other options would be Framber on short rest or Solomon(?). I don’t see how Framber on short rests helps since you’d still need to figure out game 5.

So Urquidy in 3, Javier/Grienke in 4 and hope you can win one of those two games. Then you have a best of 3 with Framber/Odorrizi/Urquidy lined up.

If game 6 is an elimination game, I guess you throw Urquidy on short rest and hope Odor/Javier can piece together a game 7 “start”.

Last time I went to the batting cage my shoulder started hurting around pitch 10. I need to limber up.

LOL! The last time I threw a baseball, I was spiking the ball consistently at about 15 feet during a 30 foot soft toss. Over time, you lose it.

Once a series roster is set, can you make injury replacements?

Yes, but it needs approval and anyone who is replaced is not eligible for the next series (in this case the WS).

Keep calm folks. 1-1 series and we all know who’s time it is. Lot of baseball left. I trust we can win at least 1 of 3 in BOS to bring it back home. This team is far from done.
