With all the scandals happening across the sports scene, it's sort of hard to remain a die-hard fan. MLB- steriods, Sammy cork, etc. NBA- unfair reffing, obvious LAker bias. NFL- Maurice Clarett.

All that being said, which sport do you still find yourself most loyal to? I'm going to assume it's going to be basketball, but I was just curious.

I went wit NFL because they have managed to stay watchable with great team parity in the league (no dynasties) while keeping college football undiluted in the process.

Ditto. Even though some of yous guys are going to tell us how "NASCAR isn't a real sport". But behind NASCAR is definitely the NBA

I don't even follow the NFL anymore, what's the point. Your team wins, your team loses, but it just never really feel like your team. Heck, there's probably more continuity in the NCAA football teams than those of the NFL.

I like the NBA, even with the "ref bias". Personally, that's always how the game has been officiated and I'm ok with that. Superstars earned their calls, it's always been the case.

MLB, great game to follow, but it just gets hard to want to watch every game.

NHL, hockey just isn't my thing.

MLS - would you cheer for a CBA team?

Nascar - definitely would like to start following it more. The rivalries and the drama makes it fun, just like the WWE (I think I've lived in Texas too long).

As long as you don't start rooting for Jeff Gordon, I fully encourage you to follow it a bit more.:)

Volleyball and it doesn't really need to be on the Pro level. Competitive High School or better is the minimum standard.

Is poker a sport?

Despite all of the scandals, baseball is my favorite sport. I already disliked Bonds and Sosa. The scandals that they have found themselves in just make me dislike them more.

Mrs. JB-- what happened to your love affair with golf?!

I interpreted "appealing" as admiration as much as anything. With that interpretation I voted for PGA/LPGA golf. The strict honor system on those tours towers over anything that any of these other sports can offer.

However, my favorite league to watch is the NFL.

It depends.

I love Baseball, but it is so much more entertaining to be there. Granted this is true for any event, but it's very true for baseball. I still watch just about every game (astros), but I am not captivated to the tv like other sports.

When I watch the NBA I am glued to the tv. I get so pumped up for Rockets games.

With the NFL, it is similar to Baseball. I watch every game (Texans). I don't watch many other teams. I am just not enticed to watch them.

I guess all in all, I am a Die Hard Houston fan. I watch every professional sports team, except for the Comets.

NFL- I cover it and with its salary cap and non-guaranteed contracts, it is by far the most competitive of leagues.
NBA- It is interesting, but not as much as it once was. I guess the new generation of player has yet to translate to me.
MLB- I love baseball, even though the Braves suck! If I wasn't covering the NFL, I'd like to cover a MLB team. But for it to survive, it needs a salary cap desperately.

Here are some sports that if they disappeared completely, it wouldn't bother me in the slightest. In fact, I'd be overjoyed.
WNBA- The college women's game is more interesting. Who cares about Connecticut vs. the Liberty? No one I know does.
Horse Racing- Smarty who? No one cares about this except gamblers and people from Kentucky.
NHL- Without a salary cap and with too many teams and not enough revenue, pro hockey is dying, but frankly, I could care less. It needs to go back to its regional roots in the northern tier of states and Canada if it is to survive.
Soccer- The world may play it, but I consider it to be the province of children and Euro-weenie socialists. To think we actually have a pro league here is absurd!
IRL/CART- Most racing fans love NASCAR, the rivalries, etc. Who cares about Helio Castroneves? Most of America doesn't. It is a disgrace that the Indy 500, once America's great race, runs a distant second to a NASCAR race.

I voted for hockey (one of the few). Fast paced game where 90 of the players are good guys (meaning you can walk up and talk to them) and most of the players are normal sized human beings, rahter than the 7 footers int eh NBA or the 300pounderr in the NFL. Also even in Mangement the folks are approachable. I sent an e-mail off to the Columbus Blue Jackets last week about a couple concerns I had and of all things I got a call from the teams president and GM. I actually talked to him on the phone for what seemed like 30 minutes (prolly much closer to 10) and he gave me honest answers (like he really doesn't expect there to be a NHL season at all in 2004-5).

I have always been a big football guy and I love the sport. My biggest problem is just the size of the players almost makes it "WWE-ish" to me.

The NBA - Not the same as the 80's when you had grerat players surrounded by great teams. Now (outside of the Lakers) it seems to be alot of great players surrounded by average players. I miss teh old days of the Celtics, Lakers, Sixers and Pistons all having great teams.

Also as a note: I wish all leagues were run like the PGA and Nascar, where participants were paid based on their performance. The winning team makes the most money which is allocated among the teammates based upon their performance (again be tough to do since it may cause guys to bbe more selfish with stats if that is possible), the losign team gets a smaller share which is allocated.

Golf is definitely a close #2 on my list, but tennis (both the players and the head-to-head match-ups) is just a tad more compelling for me.
