New guy starting a post, go ahead bash me if you need. In '94' wasn't Barkley the MVP? The Rocks beat his butt. In '95' Drexler joined the group, Otis left. David was the MVP and we all know what happened. Back to back finals MVP. Now I know everyone wants to say that if MJ still was playing that the Rocks wouldn't have won. I do remember that during the Bulls record season for wins, two of their losses were to the Rocks. They couldn't handle "Dream".

I will get to the rest of this post, but gonna send before I get logged off again.

My own reply. In 96 we get Charles and Kevin Willis, Hakeem has a problem with health. All three guys like the left box. Kevin does fantastic job filling in for Dream. Charles is doing fine, but suffers small injury. Decides that Willis should have starting job, willing to come off bench. The whole time I watch Dream defer to Barkley and Willis. Charles gets hurt against the Jazz in playoffs. Have to send again before I get logged off again.

    Hakeem was MVP in 1994.

Now we get Pippen, I would have preferred McDyess (sp) because we all know how Scottie turned out. Turnover against LA. Thank God for the trade.

We have bashed Hakeem and said he has been washed up since basically Barkley came on board.

I say not, and I also say resign him because he should retire a Rocket. And he proved that he could fit in with the new Rockets at the end of last year. He also said he is happy with his new role. Besides, we are still bashing Cato, and I think Jason Collier outide shot or not is not the answer.

Been Drinking, go ahead and let me have it.

Biggest myth in the NBA right there: in '95, MJ did play. We swept the team that took him out in 6 games. And any talk about him "not being ready" is a complete joke. If he's the greatest player ever, like so many proclaim him to be, he should easily have been ready to play at his maximum potential after a month and a half of basketball. What it comes down to is this: in '95 the Bulls were beaten by a better team, with Jordan. We swept the that team. End of discussion.

Barkley won MVP in '93, the year the Suns got to the Finals.

Cat, I hear what you are saying. The Rocks as a sixth seed beat a couple of 60 win teams, one being Orlando, who beat MJ and the Bulls, word has it he was rusty. Yeah right. Refer to the 3 seasons before MJ "retired" the Rocks swept them at least 2 out of the 3 years. Hakeem torched David and Shaq. Isn't that where Shaq decide that he was going to win a championship? Hakeem, Clyde and some CBA players (Sam Mack, Chucky Brown, A 40 year old back-up center(can't remember, I think it is Jones?) and a "Venz" guy with a seperated shoulder who I can't think of his name right now or spell if I wanted to. Anyway, they beat the 4 best teams record-wise to win their 2nd.

Exactly. If MJ was still "rusty" after a month and a half of playing regular season and playoff basketball, then he's not nearly as great as some make him out to be.

My question still remains, what about "Dream". Cato is not the answer, Collier is the distant answer (personally, I think not, can't guard Shaq). Hey, for that matter, Hakeem can't guard Shaq, but he at least might be able to put up better numbers then the other guys. Remember, still drinkin' might be talkin' out my ash...Besides, Hakeem should retire in a Houston jersey, Earl never did and either did Warren.

I think Dream will be back, and he should be back. If you read the article from the Chronicle today, there was a quote from CD saying something to the effect of "we can't talk contracts with other free agents until Dream gets back". That implies he is clearly a big priority for the Rockets, and it looks like they want to get something done.

The other great thing about it, assuming Hakeem can be resigned for a year with an option for a second, is that it buys you more time to find that center of the future. You can trade, but good deals don't happen overnight. The Rockets might not can lure or want Marc Jackson, and probably can't trade for Lafrentz. But, as long as Dream is here, it gives us more time to look for that center without hurting us in the team's productivity, since Dream is still here.

Cat, I totally agree with you. MJ had a month and half back then. He hasn't even said for sure that he is coming back next year(99.9% not playing) and the media is already trying to speculate with the addition of maybe Barkley and maybe Patrick and maybe Hakeem. Dream already said he wants to have a chance to win and wants to play where it is warm, Barkley is still overweight and Ewing is still less than Hakeem, how would MJ as a Wizard do? Duh!!!

Jeez, maybe I should stop. I do agree that keeping Dream at a reasonable price gives the Rocks time to find a reasonable replacement.... Not sure if I am keeping up, so I will quit trying and check back when I wake up.

No way MJ was rusty. Anyone remember the double nickle he dropped on New York that season? The Bulls ran into a very talented Orlando team that had them vastly outclassed at 3 positions (Shaq over Longley, Penny over Harper, Grant over Caffey). And Nick Anderson was a very good 2 guard at the time (pre-Game 1 of the Finals).
