I'm with you all the way, but Zack needs to be able to give us 5 strong innings...and I think he can/will. My confidence is high in spite of losing Lance. Admittedly, it's a huge blow, as he's evolved into a top notch ace. That said, I like the way the team has responded at the plate...very similar to when we won it all. Do we have enough pitching left to get it done? Like you said, if guys pitch to form....
Even with the rest, I'm not sure Grienke can go 5. You've heard the term stretched out, and pitchers also need to build up stamina by pitching to get to the point where they can go deeper in games. If Grienke can get you 3 innings each in two games, I think we have to be happy with that.
Are you on Nyquil when you're looking at these stats??? Framber does NOT have a 2.41 era over the last 14 days. On Oct 1st he gave up 4 ER in 5 IP against Oak and followed that up last Friday giving up 4 ER in 4.1 IP against the White Sox. That's EIGHT runs in 9.1 IP!!!
I like it. I feel good about the pitching staff as a whole. Sure the White Sox have pro hitters who are fine racking up singles. Valdez, L. Garcia, Urquidy have shined more often than not in the postseason. Grienke one time through the order in GM 4. Odorizzi, Javier are capable of the same at any point. Pressly, Stanek, Maton look strong. Graveman looked a little shaky but passed. Y Garcia was trash in GM 3 but looked like the guy they traded for in GM 4. Maybe Strom got in his grill. Y Garcia & Raley are my mop up guys for now.
He was solid in the playoffs last season if my memory serves me right. Hopefully these young guys show out like they did last playoffs as well as Urquidy in 2019.
In the postgame Strom said when they called down to the bullpen they told Yimi to just throw what Maldy called. I don’t know if that means he hasn’t been during the season or not. I think it does mean the staff clearly saw something they liked with the matchup and had a plan for him against the top of the Sox order.
Astros should find out how much strain there is to McCullers arm to throw that curve, if its minimal just roll him out there and have him throw nothing but curve balls for six straight innings like he did against the Yankees....
Also remember other teams have won World Series without Correa on their team. It’s how we structure the team that brings in the Wins. Crane will always try to put a winning product on the field.
Who said he had to be "spectacular" in every start?? What he hasn't been is "perfectly fine". What I look at is
What I look at is runs allowed and he's been shaky as of late. Doesn't mean that he can't step up and throw a gem which we're all hoping for.
If he's meaning his last 14 starts then say starts not "days" for crying out loud. If he is talking about the last 14 days my last comment speaks for itself.
I think it’s pretty clear the MRI showed something or they wouldn’t need more opinions and we wouldn’t be hearing the rumors we are hearing. I think at this point they are trying to determine if he can make anything worse or it’s a question of him just not being effective / in pain. If he could further injure himself, he’s not pitching again this season.
"Small samples"?? "Incredibly unhelpful"?? Ok I'm NOT going to go back and forth with you because you obviously are clueless. Framber had 22 starts this yr. You pop off he's been "perfectly fine". I already showed what he's done over the past six outings (which is 27% over a 1/4 of his starts thus season) and out if these six starts (his LAST six starts which includes the playoff start against the White Sox where he gave up FOUR earned runs in 4.1 IP. "Fine"? "Perfectly fine"?? He's had two good outings over his last six starts. Two! It does NOT mean that he can't step up and have a good outing which he's perfectly capable of doing. But that's NOT what you're popping off about. You said he's been"perfectly fine" which is just laughable. Done arguing with you. Believe what you want to believe.
Framber was awesome against the Red Sox this season. With all these arbitrary timelines being put out (14 days, 28 days, last 5 starts, last 7 starts, etc..), I’ll take his performance against the Red Sox and his still better than decent playoff history as a good sign for somebody who could pitch in 3 games if this series goes the distance.
1-2 weeks is minor in the regular season, but in the playoffs 1-2 weeks is "out for season"... worst fear is out for next 18 months. As a side note, Bref has the splits tab..
