The issue is there are only so many minutes to go around. Will he get more valuable development if he gets 8 minutes per game with this team or 35 in the g league? There's just simply not enough minutes to go around. Take a look at the minutes distribution from this preseason game as a reference -

And this was with Tate sitting out. So add Tate into the mix, consider that Wood/KPJ/Jalen are likely getting closer to 35 minutes (or more) in a real game, and you'll see that we have to make a choice. The team is going to have to choose 2 or 3 of our young guys to develop in the g league because it's better to get a lot of minutes there than single digit minutes on the main squad.

The only other option I can see is if they decide to get rid of the older guys, that can free up some minutes. But as long as those guys all remain on the roster, some of our guys have to get sent down to play with the vipers.

yeah, I don’t see 96 minutes of Wood/Sengun/Theis/Garuba, meaning that we’ll have significant minutes with a sub 6’8" guy at the 4/5. Great. (NOT)
as for Jaygup, I would play him above Armoni/D.J. Augustine and above Exum. So a guard rotation of JG/KPJ/EG/JC should give him plenty of minutes.
the real crunch is at SF: Tate/KMJ/Nwaba/House. That’s what forces the staff to play some of them at guard and some of them at PF… Not ideal.

@DaDakota IS a legend and a knowledgeable poster. However, it is also true that he’s got a horrible, horrible ju-ju… Some of his favorites were the late Eddie Griffin and D-Mo… So yeah, if you’re a young player you’re better off to fly under his radar…

We all make mistakes but the way he comes off is the reason for my comment.

Wait, that is not fair, I also loved Yao Ming, Luis Scola, James Harden, Brooks, lots of young players.....but I do gravitate to those that play good team basketball.

Senguin is my favorite out of all the Rookies this year.

Garuba can learn the system in the G-league quicker by getting more minutes. We aren't going to be more than a 25 win team this year. Garuba should play with the Rockets too. Aaron Brooks had a stint, and then joined the team with confidence.

Hopefully, it will take shape soon. If Silas fails to implement it, he needs to be fired.

I think Senguin is a town south of Austin. Sengun is the basketball player... and perhaps the league's rookie of the year if Coach Silas starts starting him.

I am respectful of DD and think he is a rabid Rockets fan. He used to at least seem to have good basketball knowledge. I do think he has regressed in that sense and most of his posts over the past season have been pretty bad. I do like that he is not into name calling and can take a joke. Wish there were more people like this on the board.

They ran a few more sets this game. The Rockets will be best if they can turn the ball over and get those defensive rebounds. When Segun is in the lineup the transition game picks up. There are less layups for the opposition and more defensive rebounding.

Hahah he need to jack up about a thousand threes in the Gleague. Purely elite 3&D potential… unless he takes on Mamba mentality and works his ass off.
