I gotta admit I thought it was a stroke of genius to trade for him without giving up much. But what a lost cause he has become. Not sure if it's because he had become accustomed to the high leverage closer situation and hasn't mentally adapted to becoming just another arm coming out of the bullpen.
Truth be told I think Dusty ruined him. If you go look at the first 2-3 weeks we had him, he was an afterthought in Dusty's pecking order of relievers. It couldn't have been good for his psyche. I couldn't understand why we traded for a player we didn't intend to use.
Yimi was brought in for damage control and he failed. He should’ve been done after that inning. Javier or Greinke shoulda started the next inning, instead of Garcia, and they shoulda gone the next 5 innings.
Correct, and this was the first time Dusty has to make a critical decision in the series and he failed miserably. Not surprisingly. There is a lot more of where that came from. Hopefully we can just bash our way to a title. One can only hope.
What a horrible trade to get this bum. Don't care about Pruitt in the trade, but we gave up an up-and-coming player like Bryan De La Cruz.
What is Blake Taylor thinking right about now? For anyone who was holding on to that slim thread of faith in Dusty, you got your answer in the Raley over Taylor decision for the ALDS roster. That man is single-handedly going to ruin our chance at a world series title.
To be honest, he’s been slightly better as an Astro, just more unlucky. His walks are way down, Ks are way up, OPS against way down…difference is BABIP is a bit higher since he got here. But, even though he was their closer, he wasn’t unhittable…just a little luckier. Also, starting around the beginning of June, he was giving up more runs than he had in the 1st two months. Maybe he was starting to wear down after the shortened season last year, maybe the crackdown on substances affected him, or maybe luck started to catch up to him…maybe all 3. But our bullpen was a legit dumpster fire at the deadline…Click took a chance on Yimi and it hasn’t worked out.
