For Simmons? 6 months ago I would've said you smoking crack for thinking Philly would trade him... Now I'll say you're inhaling the purest of glue for thinking we'd take him..

I would've never traded for Westbrook and would never trade for Simmons for the same reasons. Overpaid, huge ego, clogs up your cap room, and does not contribute towards playoff success.

Both Westbrook and Simmons DO contribute to getting teams to postseason.

Cannot contribute to playoff success if you don't get into playoffs first.

What I find comical is the people who don't want to pay CWood ($37m max starting in 2023) but want to trade Wall and several picks for Simmons and his $40m+ for the next 4 years.

I never said high draft picks don't yield better odds, I'm saying you can find All-Star and All-NBA talent later in the draft as well. You do not have to be in the top 5.....Ask Kwahi, ask Jimmy Butler, ask Gilbert Arneas.

I don't think you trade Wood because he's just starting to develop and he hasn't even played a full NBA season to determine what he can and can't do. Vucevic is MAXED out, he can't get any better, same with Jokic, they can only play the 5. With their body types at this stage they are what they are but Wood has the ability to be versatile.

Last yr, Wood played the 3, 4 and 5. They had him in a big lineup in the latter part of the yr when he was the 3. We know he can play the 4 and the 5. He's versatile, so why you trade him and for who?

Test his fit with Sengun, and I mean legitimately test it, for the entire year before you even think about it. Yes, he's 26, but how many NBA games has he played? He barely has more miles on his body than someone like KPJ. HODL

    No.

    Especially not for Simmons. Ugh.

Unless its as some package for a no brainer (someone like Ayton does it for me) then no.

Hes not too old for this team. And he absolutely fits.

I dont get this way of thinking. If Wood was got to fit with Harden, doesnt it make sense that he fits with KPJ?

I’m just not sure what the trade would be right now. I think the Rockets are going to remain patient this season with Wood, but he is by no means untouchable.

I know this is a HYPOTHETICAL thread and I wouldn't even consider trading him at this point....it makes NO SENSE but nobody has brought a good trade scenario and we're on pg.7

Sources: Rockets are "willing to get uncomfortable" over this ongoing Wood situation

I'll do Morey a solid just so we can get an actual starting point guard on this team:

    Philly gets:
    Caris LeVert
    Christian Wood
    Indiana 1st

    Indiana gets:
    Ben Simmons
    Danuel House

    Houston gets:
    Malcom Brogdon

    Theis
    Sengun
    *pick your SF*
    Green
    Brogdon

    Bring KPJ off the bench.

Westbrook contributed to a lot of playoff success with the Thunder. They went to the finals and might have won a title if not for Pat Bev.

Not trading Wood for Simmons. Heck no. I still don't know why we picked up Theis though. The double bigs are just too slow and clogging things up.

I am stating from the beginning Wood is fools gold and I will keep repeating it. I said before to trade him while his value is high and before he went down injured. He has skills but his playing style requires team to play through him as a main guy and he is nowhere near good enough to do that. He would probably flourish alongside LeBron or Poppovich but welp we have none of that lol

In general I trade him for a bad contract that last no longer than 2 years. Along with a pick and/or another young player.

Another young player and pick increases your assets to get someone like Wood or better in a trade 2 years from now after the team improves. While the team is improving you get other high picks as well.

    No.
Preseason games are mostly about integrating the new guys and evaluating them.
Especially this season when most of the rotation is new.
It's more about teaching KPJ and Green to run P&Rs and plays that work with Wood/Theis/Sengun.

It was probably a kneejerk post made last night while watching the game lol. I was really frustrated with Wood and KPJ.
