He so unique - got big heart, got the will to win, ain't afraid of stepping up in the clutch…let's see how he gonna grow along with this young team. edit: have to admit his ball handling quite raw, n ez to be forced into turnovers, has the tendency to be a ball hog.
Though where second year forward K.J. Martin might fit in the Rockets’ rotation is unclear after one preseason game, the options seemed plentiful, even if there are limited minutes available in the frontcourt. With centers Daniel Theis and Christian Wood starting together, Martin has worked with each and in a frontcourt with both. He finished Tuesday’s game at power forward and even at center in small lineups playing with rookies Alperen Sengun and Usman Garuba splitting time in the fourth quarter run. “I just go in and play,” Martin said. “Whatever coach tells me to do, I’m comfortable doing it. Sometimes I’ll play just me and DT, me and C-Wood and sometimes I’ll be on the coach with both of them.” Martin had a particularly efficient game, making 4 of 5 shots, including all three attempts in the fourth quarter, to score eight points with four rebounds and a pair of steals in 15½ minutes. “It felt great to go out, a new season,” he said. “The experience I had last year helped me a lot. Just going out this year, learning from last year, I know I’m going to learn a lot more. I’m just trying to soak everything in.”
