Gonna be interested in his play style coming out the gate. He hasn’t really been trusted to be the primary ball handler and playmaker throughout his career so we won’t know if he’s capable of doing it until we see it. He seems like he could mold his game after Deaaron Fox and be a really good player, but he’s bigger and more physical. (Not as fast as Fox). He said his goal was to average 10 assists which I think is a great mentality. If he can average 9 and score 19-22 on high efficiency a night, I think he’s a better player than one averaging 26 with low efficiency and limited playmaking.
This has probably been pointed out, but there's a gap between borderline all start and franchise player.
Well, yeah. Those are basically Chris Paul’s numbers, who averaged 18 and 9 last season with a .6 TS%. That would be amazing.
if we bring Benn Simmons here I think he will help KPJ reach that next level with his experience and professionalism...young guns always need that stabilizing vet presence to thrive
KPJ, Sengod and Green man, Stone Cold trending to be the goat Rox GM. Let's not forget Kmart Jr, CWood, Jaygup and Garuba who also gave a good account of themselves. Hell even Exum played ok The fact that Stone got all these guys basically in 1 yr is crazy.
I mean I know it’s preseason but with the ball in his hands for 35+ min a game I find it hard for him not to put up 20+ Ppg and 6+ ast This year. he’s a special talent gotta see if he can put it all together. honestly won’t be surprised if he gets to 25ppg with 5/5 to go with it. Just really depends on his efficiency and him getting to the ft line atleast 5-6 times a game. that’s the one area he hasn’t shown is his ability to draw fouls. harden was a FT machine from day one in okc. I never thought I would see a player who really looks similar to harden anytime soon if ever and it’s pretty strange that type of player is here one year later left handed and in a rockets uniform of all places. I would live to watch another 8 years of harden type play but this kid is a little more athletic just doesn’t have the brute strength Harden has. sky’s really the limit for this kid he should be getting a lot of hype nationally this year we’ll see how he handles that type of expectations and pressure. That will be the ultimate test on if he becomes a franchise player the height skill and talent is clearly their. and if he can get the rockets to 35+ wins I’ll be sold he’s a future mvp. harden dragged garbage to 45 wins and the 8th seed as a first year starter in year 4 in houston. should be fun to watch this year with him and green and sengun very bright future. Wood is gonna be the key we’ll see how he does with the porter at point I think the team will have a clear idea by mid season if we should keep wood or get high value for him by then.
Dude looked special tonight. The guy has star potential written all over him. All I kept thinking about was a post I read a few days ago from someone predicting he'd be the best player on the team. This team is in a great spot.
Spot On! That’s my only nibble thing with Scoot, too: not very aggressive and decisive going to the hoop. He’s got the athletic ability, he needs to just go for it. Beard is a tank going to the cup, but KPj can get close to his level IMO
Those herky, jerky moves are hard to defend. It may not look pretty at times, but it is effective. His passing will tighten up. The instincts were on full display. He's ready to lead this team - and while it wont be to playoff series wins YET ... it should give any ROX fan hope.
I agree with the whole post but this out stands out. The 3pt-and-one from last night.. for a second there I thought it was Jimmy. Same forward lean on the way coming down. It would be awesome if he opens up the first two season games with 37+ and 45+
i am just giving you different perspectives so that you can escape compartmentalized thinking... because when thinking of benn simmons in vacuum people get excited by his allstar appearances and other PR stuff so i gave you an opportunity to think about benn simmons, spacing issues, his drama and ballhogging ways and how it would be a positive influence on Scoot and his development and taking another step in the right direction right now... when we put it like that we can suddenly see in full display of the daylight all the BS nonsense and how its a big no to bring him here
but he was an allstar! and hes on a vet minumum, so why not get him to help scoot settle in the franchise player role ? and benn knows all about being a franchise
