Speaking of Milwaukee, how about Brevin Knight? He split time with Damon Jones after TJ went out and did pretty well too. He's also a free agent. If TJ is healthy for next year, I don't see Milwaukee keeping 3 backup point guards (Eric Strickland is the other). Either Jones or Knight would be great. Jones is a better 3-point shooter but Knight is a better defender and decision maker.
Lue, to put in bluntly is a freakin moron, you dont want him as your PG, francis looks like magic when compared to lue, a suspect shooter, not physical enough and doesnt pass as well either. The games I've seen him play in as a laker (quite a few living in la) and the few in orlando did nothing to impress me for his skills as a pg do not get lue as a starting pg maybe a backup that plays 20mins at most
Agree about Snow... let's not go there. Why didn't Ward play for SA against the Lakers? I didn't see all the games, but was he hurt? Did he play and I missed it? Did Pop decide not to play him? Just curious about that, since his name comes up often regarding our PG situation.
I think Tinsley could work, in a trade. Good assists, can defend. Not the shooter we'd like, but, hey.
Antonio Daniels 6'4" 205lb, very athletic guard. 7yr veteran, playoff exp. with the Spurs and Blazers. .470 FG%, .362 3pt%, .842 ft%, only .86 TO/21min. Ranks #1 in the NBA in Assists Per Turnover(4.89) Ranks #8 in the NBA in Assists Per 48 Minutes(9.5) exactly what we need with/with out T-Mac.
Tinsley doesn't defend very well, actually. Despite some nice steal numbers, he's very unathletic and has a lot of trouble staying with his man. There's no way we'd be able to win a bidding war with the Spazz for Arroyo. Brevin Knight? Very good passer, but too small and too much of a liabilty on D. As for the argument over Snow's contract... Were we to sign Brent Barry, it would probably be for a fairly long-term deal (why else would he sign with us?) and he's a year older than Snow. He's also not the passer or defender that Snow is. Though he's obviously the sexier option because of the great 2001-2002 season he had, I really think Snow would be a better fit. Another player we should consider is McInnis, should the Cavs opt to not resign him. He played very well before he got hurt.
The_Yoyo, I don't think you've watched Lue very closesly. Clearly, he's no Francis, but that's exactly what we want. We want someone solid, hardworking, and someone who defends. Personally, I haven't seen him turn it over much, and if you look at his stats, they indicate that as well. BTW, he shoots around 42% from the field, and around 37% from 3-pt range. He's no Jordan, but that's pretty damn solid. His asst/to ratio is great too. I also like the Antonio Daniels idea. Again, he's played with a dominant big man (Duncan). He's got great height. Honestly, I haven't sen him play, but looking at his stats and game log and history, I like what I see. Can anyone elaborate on his game? How does he get most of his points and how good a defender is he?
I like Antonio Daniels too, he played awesome in limited time as a starter this year for Seattle. Troy Hudson is a favorite of mine beacuse we were both SIU Salukis, but hes a shoot first guy, which probably wouldn't work with TMac. I say bring in a guy like Daniels and a guy like Damon Jones and let them fight it out.
I thought this thread was about possibilites? As in FA's. Antonio Daniels would be nice but has two more seasons on his contract. Sane - Via NBALP, I've watched Tyrone Lue plenty. IMHO, he's terrible. Given that the triangle is an easy offense to get low post entry passes and the Lakers were not looking to uptempo, doesn't it bother you that the Lakers let Lue walk? Or that with McGrady, Gooden, Garrity, Giricek (pre-trade), and Stephenson (post trade) that the Magic were barely better than the Rockets in fast break production? Lue is at best a rung up the ladder from Moochie. He's a defensive liability and had one of the worst +/- ratings on the Magic. The only way I want to see Lue in a Rockets uni is if McGrady is wearing one, too. hnjjz - Brevin Knight is decent but he is coming of a $5m contract compared to Damon Jones' <$1m. Jones will be much cheaper IMO and is from Galveston so he may sign for less $.
I like Troy Hudson but is he a FA? Don't know! ROX should get NICK VAN EXCEL! Forget Snow ...he sucks! Not quite a deadly shooter Forget Fisher...he sucks too! Will get owned by Western PGs! Get rid of turnover-prone-make-bad-decisions-not PG mentally Steve Francis/Taylor and get TMAC in here. Then get Van Excel and this Rockets team will win Championship next year!!!! PG Van Excel SG TMAC (Mobley off the bench) SF JJ C Yao PF Taylor/Cato
The Rockets need to fix what was wrong with Francis at Point Guard. a) needs to play defence. b) needs to have a pass first type game. c) needs to be a playmaker that can hit an open shot from anywhere on the court. d} needs to pass the ball up the court ie no dribblemania.
is carlos arroyo gonna command a lot of money? i would never of thought he would, but i think dat is a pretty good fit. im also a fan of pickin up a lesser known pg det has been warmin the pine, and not gotten the opportunity yet....i think someone mentioned earl watson whut about howard eisley, dint he do pretty well in ny when he got play dis year, he seems to be pretty efficient im also a big fan of dan dickau...i know he hadnt done anything since hes been in the league, adn doesnt really even show promise to anybody that isnt a zag fan,but whut about him? some other ones i wouldnt mind seein get opportunoity here, even if it is a bench role: junior harrington john crotty tyronn lue juan dixon steve blake eric snow
