We all know about Cato being overpaid. I like to think about it this way though. Mobley should be making the amount that Cato is making now. Cato, based purely on his body would be able to get Mobley's contract on almost any team in the league. So combined, they are making just the right amount. Looking at it this way, Cato does not seem like quite the cap albatross, ala Big Country. On a related note, Hakeem should not concern himself with how much Cato is making when negotiating his contract. Sure he is better than Cato, but he also brings less to the team now than Steve and Mobley. So, if he wants to be paid for merit, perhaps he should make less than them. I for one would be overjoyed if the rest of our team could take a page from Cat's book and realize that 4mil + is more than enough money. ------------------ What's a Nubian?
Listen up, people. I am getting really tired of having to say this every time someone tries to justify Cato being on the Rockets. The size of Cato's contract is irrelevant. The biggest problem is that he never plays in games. No one would have a problem paying Cato his money if he would play 70 games a year. That is the problem with Cato. He plays 40 games a year, and he only gets limited minutes in those because he is not in basketball shape when he comes off the IR. ------------------ "If you don't understand it, don't try to understand it." -Carl Everett
That's funny, because every knock that I see posted against Cato mentions that he is overpaid. ------------------ What's a Nubian?
I will give Cato one more go. I understand all that say he has been given all the chances he deserves, but me for one will give him one more go. Perhaps his injury last season was really bad. And perhasp if he stays healthy he will be somewhat productive. I will never expect him to be and offensive threat and i dont see the need for him to be. But if he just can grab some rebounds, have a few putbacks and slams/alleyoops and block a shot or two I will be happy. I certainly understand those of you who say he will always be injury prone, have no heart and be happy riding the bench making his rediculous amount of money. But ... I will give Cato one more chance Please call me a doctor. Disclaimer: I as most of you (if not all) will have no problem if he gets traded, but if they can't trade him away or won't do a trade I will give hime one more chance. ------------------ The CC.net NBA Sim Board/Homepage
I disagree, Dogbelly. His contract is quite relevant. If Cato were only making one million a year, I would have no problem with his lazy ass, because then we have more cap room to sign a decent C, and then Cato can be a backup. Despite his problems, Cato would be an excellent backup center. ------------------ I would rather have Mo Taylor and his love of the Rockets than Webber and his love of our money. Rocket's need power forward. Mo near now. Go near Mo.
