Yes? Sure there were a couple one-off teams like that, but you cannot argue that the buddy-ball we see today is nearly as prevalent as it was back then.
I don't really get the NBA twitter handwringing. This roster is weird and I'm not sure it's any better than the somewhat less weird roster everyone was wringing their hands about last year that ended up in the play-in tourney. Ellington might end up being the addition that makes the most sense.
I like Ariza but he's also old. I like Nunn but will they have the guts to bench Westbrook in the playoffs for him? I get they need someone to get them through the regular season but that someone is such a liability in the playoffs. Dwight had a negative box plus minus last year. Who cares if he puts up decent stats when the team is losing in his minutes. Every playoffs series he doesn't play in the lakers have a better chance. He played game 1 vs Rockets and we wiped the floor with them. Then all the centers got benched and we lost 4-0. he's not even better than Drummond. They will miss Caruso and Morris as well. Bazemore is trash all I remember from him is watching Harden turn him in circles.
If LeBron is closer to a 100% I think with all the shooters they have I think he can carry them to the finals. The west looks pretty weak next year.
I'm still skeptical. Relying on Kent Bazemore, Wayne Ellington, 36 year old Trevor Ariza and Malik Monk during critical playoff moments sounds very...risky.
Nunn: 2yr 10 mil contract is decent. 2021-2022 - 4.9m 2022-2023 - 5.1m 36% career 3pt. Not too bad. Cheaper than Tucker, cheaper than Theis. MIA couldn't keep Nunn because of all their new signing; Tucker/Lowry. They needed to clear room..
It won't happen without AD.The west is still stronger than the east even with the injured players like Kawhi leonard and others the West is going to be a tough road to the Finals.
The Nuggets are possibly the best team in the Western Conference. If the Nets are healthy, it doesn't matter what anyone else does.... injuries are the only thing that kept the Nets from steam rolling to the title last year. They were likely going to take down the Bucks in 5.
That Millsap signing is so underrated. Losing Jeff Green was huge but Millsap should be able to fill that void along with Aldridge. Even if Irving misses time due to injuries and/or idiocy by not getting vaccinated Patty Mills can step into that role with ease.
