http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/sports/2599908 Badiane rising With no rookies on last season's teams and no first-round pick this season or last, the Rockets will not put together a summer league team. They will, however, get a good look at last season's second-round pick, Malick Badiane. Badiane, a high-energy power forward in the Bo Outlaw mold but longer, moved up to the A-1 German league this season and has reached the league's finals. He still comes off the bench behind a NBA-caliber big man, Mario Kasun. The Rockets will bring him in for workouts in the offseason, which will go a long way toward deciding whether to sign him to an NBA contract or wait a season. "I think we've got a really good asset," Rockets vice president Dennis Lindsey said. "I don't know when is the right time to bring him over. "He's been a pretty good rebounder and shot-blocker, is, still developing as scorer. But they don't go to him. We know he can score more. He's really basketball young, but he has the right characteristics and likes to play." ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the first year I can ever remember the Rockets not having a summer league team. This really sucks in my opinion. Getting to watch the summer league team helped the offseason pass much quicker. Also personal updates from great Rocket fans such as Dr. of Dunk, larocketsfan sp?, and many others who attended the games provided great insite to the team. I will miss the Rockets's summer league updates this year.
i see him like a cato but whit jump shot and sky hook he can be our 12 player i think the rockets will call him to make the roster
Have you ever even seen him play? i haven't. This sounds like pure wishful thinking because a Cato with a jump shot and a sky hook would be an absolute perfect fit for us.
And how many players in the past 15 years actually have a sky hook. I don't see how someone can assume that Badiane would happen to develop one.
I don’t know about sky hook, but some form of a hook shot would definitely be difficult for defenders to block because of Badiane’s long ass arms (7'4 wingspan). Maybe the Rockets can hire Carl Herrera to help him out.
Okay, so it's the European leagues that are churning out the sky-hooking back-to-the-basket big men? Thanks for the clarification.
Cato with a jump shot and sky hook would be a perfect fit for any team in the NBA. If he were that, he would be playing already.
