Came into this thread to say the same exact thing.

If one of my colleagues lost SEVEN family members (including my own mother) to COVID I would probably try to be more sensitive and smarter on the issue and do everything I could to keep myself, my teammates, coaches, team employees, families and friends safe by getting vaccinated.

Beal tries to sound smart by asking "WeLl WhY ArE PeOpLe STiLL geTtInG COVID?" .....i can't even.

Can't believe how the country failed so miserably in explaining what the covid vaccine does. It should of been explained in the beginning they don't provide complete sterilizing immunity. Rather they drastically reduce the ill effects of covid if you do catch it and reduces the risk of death from covid to almost zero.

The CDC didn't do people any favors by first saying if you can take your masks off if you get a vaxxed. So many people thought this meant if you get vaxxed then you can't get infected with covid and can't infect others.

Well before deltra you were SUPER protected with the vaccine, so the no mask stuff was fine as you were at almost zero risk

I agree that the few loud and proud unvaxxed morons like Kyrie, Beal and lol ... Wiggins are exasperating, but, in general, dealing with 90% vaccinated NBA players is many times safer than just being in antivax hellscapes like Texas, Oklahoma and Florida and even safer than the general population of even well-vaxxed areas.

They think they are privileged (and they are).

But do not show it every opportunity you get!

I think Kyrie having to sit out home games makes it more of an incentive for him to not get vaxxed. He may get vaxxed around playoff time. He loves sitting out.

He is a very well spoken young man. Kudos to him.

No one should be forced to take the vaccine BUT, they should be forced to get tested weekly ON THEIR OWN DIME and provide those updated results to their team.

Remember, private businesses reserve the right to mandate whatever the “F” policies they want. If they can afford to fire all unvaccinated people and hire all vaccinated people they can.

Problem is this is not realistic and in sports especially there is a double standard. Coach’s getting fired left and right, non-star player decisions to keep or not based on vaccination, BUT star players can still decide what they want.

I just find it funny that James Harden's championship dreams with the Nets could be thwarted by Kyrie Irving refusing the get vaccinated.

I guess this issue is allowing some players to showcase how bright they really are.

We must have done a piss poor job as a country letting the public know that they could still get COVID even if vaccinated. I mean, why do players think they are sounding all smart about something that I thought was widely understood. The lack of understanding is incredibly frustrating.
