Lots of people have tried to quantify the impact of a manager and basically all found it was very small. These team is not as good as the 2018 and 2019 teams and is not a 108 win team. There have been 108+ win teams in the last 40 years.
You need to recalibrate your machine. 108 wins without a true ace, and a mediocre bullpen?? Even if the Astros had the greatest offense of all time (they don't), they STILL wouldn't win 108 games. I will agree that this team is absolutely a 100 game winner though.
Dusty will hit the road next no matter what. Best case scenario is he wins the world series and rides off into the sunset
Preseasons projections based on expected player performance had the team at 89-95 wins. This was 95 win team and will land right around there. The 100+ win seasons made it seem easy, but it’s really hard to win 100 games. Dusty probably won’t be back next year but it’s not because he’s a terrible manager. It’s because what the Astros need out of a manager will be different than it was 2 years ago. Dusty has done the job he was hired to do and he’s done it well enough.
YES. Dusty Baker is the baseball version of the worst traits of George Karl and Jeff Fisher combined.
The PYTH has this team as a 100+ win team..... likely in the 103 win area.... some of it could just be simple variance, but having a -7 or -8 on the PYTH really isn't a good look for a manager. How much of it is REALLY because of Dusty? I don't really know.
In What delusion you think this team is a 108 win team? They have no "ACE". 2019 had Cole AND Verlander. They have long injuries to Bregman, Brantley, and Tucker missed bout 20 games with illnesses. Starting pitchers had injuries. You have young players in Centerfield.
