The pitching was pretty good on the road trip sans a couple of bad innings. The final 3 series of this season always scared me since the first time I saw the schedule. I am glad we had a good buffer against the As going in. This is the week that our bats need to get going and avoid injuries. I am excited. The intensity should ramp up starting tomorrow.
- Pitching was actually pretty good....especially starting pitching - 17 games in 17 days.....the team is probably playing on fumes right now and needs a break - outside of this series in Oakland, the offense seems to have woken up - getting Brantley back SHOULD be a nice boost both on and off the field This post is equal parts based in reality, and hopeful thinking. The last thing we need is an actual funk going into the postseason.
They went 10-7 in this stretch dealing with some injuries, which isn’t exactly a funk. For perspective that’s a 95 win pace over a full season. You’d hope for a little better considering the opponents, but you also have to temper expectations given the schedule. 4 game slumps happen as do hot streaks. That’s why the best teams don’t always win the World Series.
