The CDC link I provided is real-world data on vaccinated vs unvaccinated (not on absolute effectiveness of vaccine). That is more relevant to the question if we should mandate vaccination. Effectiveness and waning is relevant to if we should boost and when.

I remember the 20% now, but just slightly. Israel initially reported 69% effectiveness against infection than later 39%. 20% or 16% was a subcategory of the 39%. I think it was for those people who were vaccinated very early (these people are older and sicker which have a weaker immune system so it would skew the number compared to the general population).

I am vaccinated, but I believe vaccine mandates are wrong. Those who want to protect themselves can do it. Assuming the vaccines work, why would they have to be protected from the unvaccinated? It comes down to personal freedom vs. big government. If you think this through and government can force you to undergo a medical intervention in order to participate in daily life or do your job, it becomes a very slippery slope.

The slippery slope started quite a while back. 1777, George Washington ordered his troop variolated (against smallpox) even against their will. 1900s saw smallpox vaccine mandates by gov which the supreme court upheld.

Not everyone can be vaccinated and overcrowded hospitals lead to deaths of people that can't get beds.

There is a m massive cost to all of us for the unvaccinated.

Similar argument could be made for obesity, drinking and smoking.

Our hospital systems were designed to already handle the regular load for severe illness due to obesity, drinking, and smoking (add in car accidents, gunshots - yes that's a thing here, and so on). It was not designed for a pandemic of this level. The acute rise in emergency and ICU cares risks everyone else, not just the unvaccinated.

Covid also spread quite easily and some folks can't yet be vaccinated (not yet approved for certain age groups) or that can't at all (medical reasons) or that can but have such a weak immune system that their level of protection is not great.

Yes. We at least have sin taxes on alcohol and cigarettes to at least pay for some of that cost. They don't have the same sort term cost of the virus, but they do have a heavy cost on the longterm.

I see all the reasons to put pressure on people to get vaccinated, but I am a libertarian in general and think one has to be careful to let the government dictate too much. E.g. Australia and NZ have gone way too far in my opinion. Feels totalitarian like China at this point.

No. If he's that dense, I'll pass.

For someone like Wiggins, however, not being vaccinated directly impacts not only his own job, but his team, everyone on it, and the organization. I'm all for freedom of choice, but countries have "rules and regulations" that impact everyone. Even Germany. ;-) A license to drive, speed limits on the roads and highways, for example. Much of that may devolve down to the state or province level, like it does in the US, of course, but in the case of Wiggins, he's taking it upon himself to create a huge problem for the Warriors.

I’ll trade John Wall for Isaac and Wiggins
That would be great for our front court

Wiggins and Kyrie are 2 huge dumbasses

Kyrie is a flat earther, so of course he’d be anti-vaxx too. It’s only natural.

Kyrie seems to have some deep seeded desire to be a contrarion…no Kyrie, you’re not an intellectual…your 3rd eye is not open

Jonathan Isaac sounds like some religious nut trying too hard to be different…he needs to stfu as well
