I think I said this earlier in the thread, but Morey loved this dude. I think he was Morey's first hire when he became the Rockets' GM and hired him again later as a consultant. Any dude with an EE as well as a Comp Sci degree from MIT, then goes and get an MBA from Stanford has got to be beneficial. lol. I remember reading an article a while back saying he did DB work as well as salary cap work for the Rockets. I'm curious to see what happens to him with Minnesota, and if he doesn't stay there, will he come back here in some capacity.

No, they should not expedite rebuild and put a hard ceiling on the team. Dwight Howard already showed us that if you have a guy who can be hacked at the end of a playoff series, you're wasting your time all season for a sliver of a chance. You have to be Shaq-like on the inside to overcome that, and Simmons is not that. Westbrook showed the path for a few months when he was here, he cut out 3 pointers, reduced mid range and attacked the rim relentlessly for fouls. I'm not sure Simmons has that in him. That's the only way to compete without 3's.

Would rather have a top 5 pick next summer than Ben Simmons. We have a great core already in Wood, Sengun, Garuba, Tate, Green, Porter. Tanking one more year means we don't have to be ultra desperate in trade and FA market and can focus on internal development.

Gupta wasting no time in making a big game changing move for Minny. Even calling his shot as he walks up to the plate.

    Big balls.

Ben Simmons + KAT would be an interesting dynamic. How would it differ from Embiid?

I’ve seen Minnesota and NYK mentioned as potential trade destinations for Simmons. Neither of those teams have FRPs for years beyond this year. Morley wants assets he can flip for another star. I’m not seeing anyone coming close to what the Rockets can offer.

Simmons value is getting worse by the day so I can see him getting traded for a underwhelming package regardless.

KAT wants to launch 10+ threes a game and Simmons is terrified of shooting more than 3 feet from the basket, so the fit is better than Embiid. Yes KAT does sometimes like to post-up on the block like Embiid, but he doesn't do it as much as Embiid.
