Meeting someone over the Internet part II - how many dates until...

If it's a real date, and not a "having a drink/coffee to see if we click" thing, then yes, there should be a kiss somewhere in there on the first date. Back in ancient times, when I was single and not living with a chick, I frequently got a hell of a lot luckier than that! Of course, that was during the wonderful days of the late '60's and '70's. Almost everyone I knew slept around to some extent. The pill and the lack of STD's (in the main) that couldn't be cured with a shot was far out, to say the least. (don't tell twhy! )

Movies are good.

Can you go over to her place or she comes over to yours? Can you cook?

 

movies are a great way to find out where the other stands. if you go and just end up hanging out at the movies -- you're prob in the friend zone ... if you go and end up with your arm around her or somethin like that during the movie - you're set.

 

A movie sounds good. And if there's something romantic she hasn't seen, so much the better. Maybe after the movie you could good somewhere kinda dark and cozy, have a few drinks, and then plant one on her at the first opportunity.

(this sounds silly... I bet you must really like her to even have to ponder this stuff. She's got your head turned around! )

One word of advice: make sure she's not a "pee-drinker" before going in for that first kiss, or else you might get a salty surprise.

If you are going to a movie make sure you plan something before or after that will give each of you time to talk and know each other better.

I think movies can be a horrible first date because it's two hours of silence. Unless of course you are one of the punk asses that likes to talk a lot during a movie.

 

Don't tell me what, that people have premarital sex and use the pill?

You want to kiss her? Kiss her. If she doesn't, you'll know, and that's that.

I say this being pretty much against formalized dating in general, and one who finds it almost impossible to meet someone I'm attracted to in real life, let alone over the internet, so take my advice with a bucketload of salt.

But, generally, in my experience, if there's gonna be fire, the sparks are in the air pretty early on.
