Darn! If he misses 4 games that will mean he will lose about 4 catches and 85-90 yards off his season statistics then correct?
Man oh man. Sucks about Taylor and Collins... Curious to see how Mills reacts.... But man I'm not up to watching ugly football for 3 hrs...I had enough of that with bob's teams....
Kudos to the Panthers for taking a chance on Sam Darnold. Now they may have their QB for the next 12 years.
It really is amazing how bad Gase is and the Jets for that matter. Tannehill and now Darnold for Gase.
It was a great 6 quarter run. Don't let anyone take that away! On the brightside, fans get to see if Mills can make gradual improvements and if not, Willis or Corral are right around the corner.
I honestly don’t see why Houston wouldn’t wanna lose every game at this point. I mean other than playing for pride?
The only bright side to Tyrod injury is he has a long history of getting injured and the young QB to come after him turning into a stud. Allen, Herbert, Mayfield
Honestly I hate to say it but the Tyrod injury may end up being a blessing in disguise. They’re going to be able to get an extended look at Mills and see what they’ve got there much earlier than expected. Tyrod was looking excellent- so much so, that we were heading down a path of mediocrity- contrary to what most people were expecting. Two really positive things can happen here: 1. Davis Mills excels and possibly looks like the QB of the future after a few games of progressing and gradually getting better and better as the season goes on. 2. The Texans suck horribly and we secure a top 3 pick in the draft. The blueprint becomes more clear. Hopefully the Deshaun stuff ends up coming to a head and teams start calling. The Texans can then at least BLUFF like they want to keep Deshaun and keep trying to drive up the price
For having zero expectations going in and questioning if/why I should even continue watching this team after what has transpired, this team is surprisingly refreshing to watch so far. The offense felt really fluid and not totally dependent on the QB making a miraculous play like we have been accustomed to with Deshaun. We were actually driving down the field with relative ease with Tyrod and the run game. Defense is flying around and playing hard. They might have actually found something with the Culley/Tim Kelly/Lovie coaching combo. If Caserio and team can draft well and not overpay in free agency we might be on to something. The Tyrod injury is actually a blessing in disguise -- with him playing we were going to be in the playoff hunt -- now we can focus on seeing if Mills has a future, and lose a few games to knock us down and set us up for a high draft pick. Perhaps we are able to draft a QB of the future that can play behind Tyrod next year.
If only Mills had first round talent like the rest - he's a project drafted in the 3rd round for good reason. Those other guys were top 7 picks - just sayin.
Except he did have high projections, even in this draft. For sure in 2022. From a pure physical standpoint he’s as gifted as any QB that came out this year, and more than most next year.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bu...caneers-nfl-draft-target-davis-mills-stanford He was widely regarded as a 2nd round pick this year, with potential late 1st. In a stacked QB draft. He’s had minimal experience and has been hurt a lot, which masked some of his actual movement ability. Right now he is all physical potential, he could completely bust or he could become a competent starter. As most have said, most likely he’ll be a career back up. But it’s not for lack of physical ability.
It is sometimes good for teams to get QB's early before certain habits are formed. Mills will learn more from the Texans than he would with another year of college. They money the Texans invested in the O-Line will help now because he won't get hit like a David Carr or Tom Savage did. Mills got hit when he didn't recognize the unblocked blitzer, one of things he needs to learn.
Sorry guys the kool aid isnt strong enough yet. Add more everclear. You guys are trying to convince me that Davis Mills has first round talent? Top 7 talent? Cmon now. I like the optimism, but lets keep it real.
No need to convince you, you already have your mind made up. Every other scout had him as a 2nd rounder this year and 1st next. Every scouting report post pro day says physically gifted. Im curious, what about his physical skillset isn’t enough?
