If these #1 picks were to be re-drafted in next year's draft, what would the order be?

I certainly do not agree with how you ‘ordered your list’, as in their results. That said, no HSer, to my recollection, created a higher expectation than Lew Alcindor. Then likely Wilt.

But, to your list: I’d lean towards LBJ, then riggin’ for Wiggins. Oden, Shaq, Iverson.

And, hmm, how might this list be if compared to their future on-court careers:

LBJ, Shaq, TD, AI, Yao, AD, DHo, BG/DR, AB, AW, Zion (with an ‘incomplete/TBD’).

Wiggins hype dropped a lot in college. Embiid would have been no 1 pick if he wasn't hurt.

Shaq was hyped like Zion, big and freakishly athletic, only that Shaq was bigger than Zion.

Duncan was the "surest thing" because he was already polished and sound coming out of college. He's kind of like Jalen Suggs, mature, solid, and fundamentally very good. His floor was extremely high. But he wasn't freakish like the Shaqs and Zions (or even David Robinson) of the world. So his ceiling wasn't perceived to be as high as those guys.

To be fair, no one was openly tanking for Jalen Suggs like they were for Tim Duncan. Boston and San Antonio were aggressively tanking in order to get that #1 for Duncan. I'd say that's a fair amount of hype.

Shaq met his potential for around 3 or 4 seasons. That potential was what would have made him #1 even over LeBron. It would be the same bigman thing we've seen over and over again. Duncan might even go over LeBron. Judging by how their careers panned out, it would be a mistake taking Shaq and Duncan before LeBron, but going on pure potential, most take Shaq and Duncan.

And all three would split 12 to 15 championships if they were to come in during the same draft and didn't team up.
