How the united states ended up with two right wing parties.

Fascinating video I found on front page Reddit probably too 'left' for this 'liberal echo chamber' makes you wonder ..I'm not so sure:

What is the left? Are we all moving more right?

Glad someone finally put out a video that captures this phenomenon and its underlying causes in a 10 minute format.

I can see a lot of reasonable moderate posters having strong issues with this video because it makes some claims that have received strong push back here.

Largely accurate, although I think it gives too much of a pass to voters who often vote “moderate” even when there is a legitimate progressive option who isn’t any more likely to lose to the GOP alternative. The other factor is the absolutely terrible messaging by progressives - whether it be utilizing damaging catchphrases like “Defund the Police” or an inability to demand “apples to apples” comparisons between GOP and Democratic legislation. Regarding the latter, a prime example is how the GOP tax cut amount is almost always calculated on a net basis while the Democratic infrastructure bill is calculated on a gross basis. This article breaks it down:

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2021/09/09/double-standard-gop-vs-democratic-budget-bills/

There is no reason Bernie Sanders, AOC or any other progressive can’t go on the TV news and emphasize the net numbers. But for whatever reason, it isn’t happening and that’s a huge failure on their parts.

The other thing that gets me (and I’ve had several back-and-forths on this topic here with some non-authoritarian conservatives who call themselves moderates) is the idea that there can be common ground between progressives and authoritarian conservatives. If you have a side that believes the other side should be oppressed (via voting laws for example), I’m not sure if I see any value in trying to work with them - authoritarian conservatives (especially those who fall under the evangelical and Christian Dominionist umbrellas) aren’t ever going to compromise or even work in good faith with progressives. All that ever happens is intransigence by the authoritarian conservatives and eventual capitulation by the moderate conservatives. Not once has the far right ever conceded a progressive issue and rarely does any good come from capitulating to them. The only way to overcome their obstruction to to get the number to outvote them. It’s a depressing outlook to take, but it’s also the reality.

Americans voted split ticket for Biden because they were so afraid of "Socialism and Communism creepin into Murca". As if working 60+ hrs a week without healthcare was a privilege, and finally getting into salaried work is textbook bootstrapping Hard Work.

You don't know what you have and don't have until you stay in another country. Germans are considered hard working and hecklers for precision, yet they still get a month and a half in mandatory vacation and work far less hours per day than Americans or Asian countries. Their streets are mostly clean and crime free since housing for homeless and the mentally ill is provided.

All these humane things are considered mooching by us, with a seething indignity for living off our dime (taxes) all while billionaires buy their statium sized mega yachts built off the backs of "real Americans" and foreigners.

Oh well, best cuntry in the world don't care about what other people thinks. Unless they laughin at us, well then that's the fault of the dummycrats!

Nah dog, "real American" isn't a thing. It's called Brainwashing and Indoctrination.

    Saw this on Reddit….

Apparently after winning the Cold War and USSR fell…. People are surprised both parties were neoliberal…. The difference was one wanted regulations and to blunt some of the negative effects while the other wanted to be completely business friendly.

Labor got bloated and inefficient then Regan come around…. And now capital has become too bloated and inefficient that went too far with supply side.

Coming from East Texas/South Louisiana working class…. These folks overwhelming choose cultural nonsense over protecting their communities. The Rust Belt…. Don’t get me started… Do things rust slowly?

Progressives just keep getting out maneuvered on the messaging…

Conservatives have a built in advantage with “traditions” but it shouldn’t be this bad. I am worried because conservatives are getting the younger men. Democrats, right or wrong, just come off as a bunch of p*ssies.

Progressives are portrayed by mass media as the flipside of the coin to the right wing, as if wanting nationalized health care and seriously addressing climate change has some equivalence to the Proud Boys... when they're even mentioned at all.

The only thing keeping the progressive movement alive is the power and consistency of Bernie Sanders and the personality of AOC.

I think at some point we have to admit that it maybe on purpose.
We might have to admit that the "moderates" and "progressives"
don't want to win . . .they are simply there to give the illusion of choice

as something I saw on face book

"They give you the illusion of difference
so they can sell you the illusion of choice."

I don't think the democrats are being out maneuvered. ..i think they are simply a part of the dog and pony show.
